[Buha] “The tentative plan for the Lakers is to run it back with as much of this past season’s group as they can possibly afford under the new, stricter [CBA]. They’ll only pursue a third star if they deem that player of a certain caliber & believe he can fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.”

I’ll continue to hope for a boring offseason for the Lakers. They have a good group as is. Hopefully that’s what happens.

So basically they’re gonna do what they should. Let Bron and AD recover over the summer retain Rui and Austin and build around those 4 basically. Hopefully they can get a 5 so AD can move back to the 4.

Lakers should just skip Kyrie and continue adding young talent.

Lebron will probably leave in a year, so there’s no point in going all-in on a chip team.

    >pursue a third star

    Please no.

Lakers have proven much better at finding good deals on role players vs. “stars”

Well at least they learned from their mistakes

Beasley and DLo are the only pieces they can move. Whatever they can get for them will be a successful offseason.

No surprise there. Their cap option were limited and guaranteeing Vanderbilt and extending QO’s to Reaves and Rui would have left them with $13 million or so in cap space. So not enough to chase a meaningful free agent.

Good, I like this group. We should contend next year if healthy. No flashy stuff in the offseason, develop your talent.

As they should. Bring the team back, and make moves on the margin. This brand new team every year shit is horrible. Zero chemistry and continuity.

It’s pretty clear that unless you’re the Warriors, the Big Three model doesn’t really work in the modern NBA. Lakers stumbled on to a good thing, keep it going. Tired of having to rebuild chemistry every season with a completely overhauled roster.

  12. Hey, Westbrook is a free agent. The Lakers can open up 30 million in cap space by dumping everyone else but Bron, AD, and Austin. Seems like a no brainer.

A boring offseason for this team is a good offseason for them. At most, look into getting a better and more available center to rotate into your lineup

They probably could get a good starter this summer with the assets they have. My guess is that they will be looking for upgrades using Beasley/Vando and their picks/Max Christie. Maybe a trade with the Pacers for Turner and/or Hield?

Probably our best bet tbh. A team largely formed at the trade deadline that was later swept in the WFC needs some retooling, not major changes.

  16. PluCKy-Voco

The Lakers may have been swept but the series was actually extremely competitive. Denver won by 6, 5, 11 and 2.

It is not unreasonable to think that the same team with an additional year of experience playing together will improve on defense and offense. A small improvement could easily swing that series in the Lakers favor.

It seems like a no-brained to be honest. Being the same squad back and see how they play with a full season together.

I really don’t think we were that far off. Every game with Denver was competitive, they exposed a couple deficiencies but this team had basically 0 continuity given it was cobbled together at the trade deadline so their play will only improve from here.

“Our plan is to put good players around LeBron and AD”

I like this idea for the Lakers.

  19. Pretty__Ugly

That team isn’t competing for a chip.

LeBron and AD not getting any younger, no ability to get more talent from outside, so running it back is their only real option.

    Major regression incoming.

  20. yalogin

Translation – Lebron has fucked up this team for the last time, I swear!

  21. -motts-

Lmao of course Lebron needs yet another all star 🙄
