Why The Raptors May Have Already Decided On Who To Draft!

for today’s video I will be discussing the Raptors draft pick and why they may have already decided on who to draft. There are several indications of this and I discuss those in today’s video as well as take a look at 2 players the Raptors will consider at the 13th spot in this year’s NBA draft!

Make sure to follow me on twitter for my thoughts on the Raptors and the NBA!

  1. I already said it. Masai isn’t going to select the players all these media guys and fans are talking about. First of all guys like Wallace are going to be gone when we draft, and he’s not picking guys like George, Nick Smith Jr, Hawkins or any of these guys you see everybody talking about. Masai has a type and he sticks to that type. it’s long guys with crazy wing spans that do multiple things well. Masai doesn’t care about who the media is hyping up. He picks the players his scouts have been doing their homework on for years!!!! When Masai draft Rupert or Coulibaly I hope people give you your props for being one of the few guys covering the Raptors to actually call this pick. Personally I think he will draft Coulibaly. The Raptors scout their players years in advance, and when the Masai went to France that was him going to have a look for himself after his scouts identified Coulibaly as the pick. I will be the least shocked fan when I see Keyonte George, Nick Smith Jr and guys that still on the board and I hear with thd 13th pick in the draft the Toronto Raptors select Bilal Coulibaly!! The signs are there. Masai didn’t go to scout Wemby because we were talking about the playoffs when he went there. At that time Coulibaly was expected to go in the late 20’s so Masai knew we could have still drafted him there if we made the playoffs. He moved up a lot and luckily he’s still in our range now. People just ignore the signs because they’re so fixated on the guys they think we should pick.

  2. It's probably never just one player, because you never know if your guy is gonna be available. Certainly Christian Koloko was a known commodity in the lead up to the 2022 draft, and it wouldn't have been impossible for him to be gone at #33. But then, other targeted guys (like Nembhard) would be there.

Bilal seems the obvious target, but there's zero guarantee OKC won't take him at #12. Unless Masai is really believes in him the way he believed in Giannis, SGA and LaMelo in their drafts and was frantically trying to get a pick to draft each of them, I have to go along with the draft experts that call this a deep draft. It might be better to have two picks in the 20s than one pick in the teens.

  3. I looked over the Raptors current roster and comparing to other Eastern teams here is what I concluded.
Toronto is one good shooting guard away from being a top 4 team. Gary Trent Jr., Thadeus Young and Malachi Flynn are the 3 players I would be looking to trade away. The salary total frees up approx. 27 million in cap space, and I would also consider Chris Boucher trade as well as the team has a good group of swing men and forwards.

  4. Love your videos always here for them… I agree with basically everything in this video expect for the notion that you can make shooters… taking away natural size shooting, is probably the hardest skill to teach… either your a shooter or not.. I don’t seem to understand why Toronto doesn’t follow there long lengthy script but find some one with natural shooting traits also… this notion that we can teach shooting hasn’t work lol… og is the exception and he’s above average shooting come playoffs.. if we really wanna go forward with this team why don’t we maximize pascal and get him REAL SHOOTING… NOT maybe shooters..not guys who need to spend 3 season in the g league.. or guys that learnt basketball at 16.. we need some PURE hoopers…

  5. Yay..thinking Rupert or Bilal too. We’ll see how it goes. We had been looking for a small forward for years when we drafted OG. Big hole.

  6. I don't think anyone can really make a definitive decision with the draft, imo hood-shefino could be considered a heir apparent to kyle Lowry if it's important to draft that skillset. And he's not even touted as a top end skill player of the guards available. Finding a winner will be easy this year but deciding who is the best prospect in 3 years is way too tough right now.

  7. This draft is pretty stacked if I were Toronto I’d try and trade back with either Brooklyn for 21 22 or 3 of the Pacers picks.

  8. My man I really dig your show but let’s keep it 1000. It’s time to blow it up. Trade OG even though og is da man but his value is stupid high. Trade pascal is must. Build around Scottie. Van vleet has to go as well.

  9. Rayan Rupert is certainly an interesting name and checks all the boxes of the type of player they would target with his multi skillset. Perhaps even trading down to acquire him. Would love a shout out, Prab! 💪🏼

  11. Need a swing for the fence player on a draft like this, one of Bilal, GG, or Keyonte. Whichever is available

  12. Not too hyped for this draft as we could've had a top 4 if we just decided that a play-in loss was not needed.
