[Sam Amico] People around the league believe Ja Morant will be suspended for no less than the first half of the regular season.

>NBA commissioner **Adam Silver** didn’t want to get into specifics when speaking to the media about potential punishment for Grizzlies point guard **Ja Morant**, but insiders believe a massive one is on the way.

Would be better if he was banned for life. Never liked the dude so I’d find that neat

Hey, any time you can suspend a guy for 30 games for beating his girlfriend, and suspend another dude half a season without getting charged with a crime, you have to…

That’s not nearly enough for r/nba

    Y’all want blood

On the bright side, he’ll have a half of a season off to work on his shooting skills 🔫

Memphis will somehow end up third in the West by the All-Star Break

First 42 is fair, if the grizzlies are bad gives them a chance to come back but its also long enough to hammer in the message

  7. SmoothBrein

How much money does that translate into for Ja?

He gonna announce that he’s gonna go play baseball then come back in a few years 🤣

Memphis will be bad this year because their star will be out but unlike the spurs they won’t get rewarded with a generational talent

Half a season is the perfect amount, serious but not a *whole* year which would be overkill in my opinion. Only thing that makes it look stupid is that Bridges only got 30 games

That’s not bad, I thought it’d be one whole season lol

    As he should.

I’ve heard a lot of guys who cover the NBA say they expect “maybe triple” of his initial 8-game suspension, citing that Arenas got 50 games for bringing a gun onto team premises and into the locker room. The reality is, this is a different time. Social media being so rampant and influential not even just to young kids, but I’ve seen other young men and even people my age (early 30s) be beyond influenced by social media. Arenas and Crittenton for that matter both did something VERY stupid and deserved what they got. Arenas and Crittenton also may have gotten more if the incident happened earlier. They were suspended for the remainder of that season.

The difference here is that Ja’s outreach to people is at least a thousand times more influential and possible because of the day and age that we live in. It’s crazy to believe the other incident was only in 2009 but things are still way different now, and Ja is airing his out for the entire public to see. He needs to get at least half of the season, if not more.

I’ve been saying this since day 1. He gets a 70-80 game suspension, appeal drops it to 40 games. He is going to be made an example of

This sub hates Ja so much that it’s choosing to believe an Amico report.

Won’t matter much. Another first maybe second round exit incoming

Too harsh of a punishment for Ja, it’s just a gun

I feel like they’ll suspend him the whole season. To do this twice in a few months after saying you were working on yourself, on top of whatever new info they found makes think they’ll really make an example of him. Adam Silver probably felt humiliated for believing him the first time.

First half is fine, but then you’re banking that he’s not going to do anything stupid during all that time away from basketball. I don’t know that I feel very good about that if I’m Memphis

  19. agoddamnlegend

This is absolutely absurd. I get punishing him a little, but half a season has to be the biggest overreaction punishment I’ve ever seen in sports.

Somebody explain — what exactly did he do that justifies one of the longest suspensions in league history?
