The Brooklyn Nets made two coaching hires over the weekend, adding former NBA veteran and Overtime Elite coach Kevin Ollie and Long Island Nets head coach Ronnie Burrell to the staff. For the Nets, it could signal a move in the right direction for the team if player development is going to be a renewed source of strength for this organization.
Kevin Ollie is reported to have been a finalist for the Detroit Pistons head coaching job before it ultimately went to Monty Williams in a massive deal. He is a well-respected name in the NBA community dating back decades. And Ronnie Burrell is coming off earning the G-League coach of the year honors for his time in Long Island.

Hello everyone. Looking at coach Vaughn new staff Kevin Ollie and Ronnie Burrell were excellent picks to help coach this team. The theme with this new staff overall is development development and more development…
Looking at Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton being the new core and leaders of this team this new staff can focus on pushing these skilled players to the next level… 🔥
Also if Brooklyn selects anyone at the draft they will have a good staff around them to help their first year go as smooth as possible….
Given this new coaching staff emphasis could be more on player development then any trades Brooklyn makes should be to acquire young skilled talent who want bigger roles. Some of those talents include players like Peyton Prichard Jonathan Kuminga Moses Moody Matisse tyhbulle Naz Reid Colby White etc….
In other news Mikal Bridges has decided to take on a huge new challenge joining team USA in August and he is also stepping up as a leader….

Love the Ollie hiring. Feels like they’re bringing in a guy who has some player development shops, but also could connect a little bit better with the younger generation.
Also, I’m happy to Bridges has gotten the respect to be on team USA but personally I’m never a big fan of players playing internationally. I feel like it wears them out and opens them up for injury come the regular season. Let’s remember bridges a guy who’s never missed a game dude should rest. and also hate to say it but I team USA is a hotbed for players colluding so you’re either on the positive end of that or the negative.
I'm very happy we'll begin the next season with a good coaching staff. The stability will pay huge dividends. We're very lucky Ollie and Burrell wasn't hired as assistant coach or head coach somewhere else. I'm sure that'll be in their future. I hope JV and his staff have some input in who we select in the upcoming draft with our three picks. The promotions, within the organization, among the coaching staff as well as the roster is the kind of continuity we should be aiming for in the future.
I think the Nets made some great hires and it’s encouraging to see assistants with player development skills.
Hot take: Nets bring in Ollie who coached Scoot Henderson on Overtime Elite because they are sending Bridges and Cam Johnson to Portland for a mega trade. Hahaha just kidding

Mega Rebuild Trade:
Nets take a 180 before the draft and decide with the hire of Ollie and the upcoming CBA that’s it’s time to go full rebuild.
Nets send: Bridges, Cam Thomas, DFS, and Cam Johnson( S&t) to Portland.
Portland sends: 2023 3rd overall pick and 2023 second round pick. Anfernee Simmons, and Sharpe.
Nets now have 5 picks in the 2023 draft select Scoot Henderson or Brandon Miller a long with four other rookies.
Pretty much confirms we won't be going after players like Dame. And probably also confirms we'll be brining back Cam Johnson
