This was bad. They even admitted they like the upside of the young talent. That’s the point of a tank/rebuild. You play a lot of young guys, you do bad and you get high picks. If your first high pick does awesome day one like Luka, well guess what, you can’t tank for another star running mate. Development doesn’t happen overnight. Jalen Green is matching other awesome players like Booker at the same stage. Sengun is ahead of where Jokic and Sabonis were in their year twos (not that he’ll be MVP like Jokic, but still encouraging nonetheless).
They rip Houston for getting the fourth pick, and then say maybe Amen is the guy a few minutes later. Like fr Amen Thompson can be the guy down the road, that’s something to be excited about.
Also they failed to even bring up the immense change in coaching staff…yikes very biased.
I do admit I don’t like the idea of a Harden signing myself, but that would not put us in a worse position than the Wizards who are stuck with Beal’s NTC max deal. Also there is no guarantee that Dallas will hold on to Luka long term. He could leave them as an unrestricted FA in the future and leave them for literally nothing which has happened before (ie KD leaving OKC).
Edit: Also can we get just one big mainstream media outlet that treats us like most other NBA franchises? Like literally just one, I’m sick of us being the Ringer’s and Athletic’s whipping boy and having it leak down to r/nba.
No matter where this franchise is at the narrative will always be that they’re worse than nearly all their peers who are in a similar position as them. The team could win a title and I bet the Ringer’s first headline would be something like “Worst Roster to ever Win a Title?”

If i’m not mistaken when I was listening to the POD when they got towards our part of the list they eluded to it being more difficult to choose because a good amount of franchises are in close proximity to one another in terms of where they are currently as a franchise.
