Its a very weird situation to be in. We might be forced to blow it up this summer, but San Antonio has our draft pick next year. I really have no idea what Masai and Bobby plan on doing here.

I’ll take “things that won’t happen that people say should” for 800, Trebek

Solid basketball argument here I think, but if you’re going to advocate for trading everyone and tanking for a few years, you do need to consider how that will affect their bottom line. A business argument is tougher to make and that one takes priority when you have to convince MLSE to make less or even lose money for multiple years. You have to match salaries in any trade, so they trade those guys for young assets and cap ballast junk contracts. Their payroll is similar next year, but they win 15 games, so their revenue streams will suffer. This could happen for multiple years in a row before they turn a corner. How much of a financial hit is MLSE willing to take and for how many years until they rebuild their brand and become competitive?

I think it has to be a soft blow up. Trade as many assets as you can for pieces that can help you now and in the short term. However, you got to keep Scottie and build around him.

Ye they need to make big changes, but they also got to walk a fine line, because they don’t have next years pick. Best case scenario they are a mid to late playoff team, gain some value able playoff experience (which Masai apparently loves) and Spurs get like the 20th pick.
