Will Bilal Coulibaly be too tempting for the Toronto Raptors to pass up if he’s available at 13?

In Episode 1417, Sean Woodley goes solo to discuss 18-year-old Mets 92 wing and Victor Wembanyama teammate Bilal Coulibaly and why he might be tough for the Toronto Raptors to pass up at 13, even if he doesn’t address the team’s most glaring needs. Off the top, Sean digs into the tale of the tape on Coulibaly and his ascent over the course of this season over in France to the point that he’s now contributing on a French league finals-bound Mets team. He boasts a lot of qualities that’ll remind you of O.G. Anunoby, but would it be foolish for the Raptors to use another pick on a project wing when their roster is in such glaring need of shooting and/or guard play — skills that will be abundantly available when the Raptors pick at 13th-overall on NBA Draft night. Next, Sean runs through the defensive and off-ball scoring abilities that make Coulibaly such an interesting prospect, while also digging into the areas in which he’d need to grow on offense in order to reach his higher-end outcomes. Lastly, Sean replays a clip from Rafael Barlowe’s recent appearance on Locked On Raptors detailing what makes Coulibaly such a Raptors-y prospect, why Masai Ujiri is the type of exec to take a chance like this, and why his rise up draft boards could benefit the Raptors by bumping a talented guard like Cason Wallace or Anthony Black down to their range of the draft.

  1. We need to do whatever to get one more pick in the Lottery.. some real good Players in this draft.

  2. Coulibaly’s stock is rising if you follow his team. He’s playing playoff basketball right now. In their last game he looked better than Wemby. . I would not be shocked if OKC take’s him at 12. You got to remember he’s 18 years old and playing currently professional basketball against grown men. Some of these players played in the NBA, and that league is better than the NCAA so he’s playing against better competition than some of these guys rated ahead of him. You put him in the NCAA and who’s to say he’s not a top 8 pick ? 🤔

  3. If the Raptors are going to trade away the vets then Bilal is the guy I want. If the team is going to just retool I like Hawkins

  4. At this point defects are being talked about in the top lottery possibilities. Bilal, Cason Wallace and Gradey Dick have become much more enticing and all will likely be gone before 12 or OKC, but OKC has a lot of draft capital to trade up.

  5. I'm a Knick fan, but I'm so intrigued by Coulibaly and think Toronto would be such a good spot for him.

  6. Coulibaly was dominating in the French U21 league. Now he’s playing against grown men and showing significant flashes in the playoffs. You can’t teach his physical tools and athleticism. He moves so fluidly he looks like he’s gliding on the basketball court. I’m very high on him. His ceiling is higher than OG’s. He’ll be able to play the 2 now and 3 and 4 in the future. He may not even be done growing.

He would fit perfectly with Scottie because Coulibaly can shoot the 3 ball, is a good cutter and would be a monster on defence.

I don’t even know if this is possible but I’d trade up with Orlando to get him. I’d do Gary Trent plus the #13 pick for either #6 or #11.

  7. Heard Bilal will be picked by Utah originally promised 16 but now 9 as they figure they can draft a guard like Hood-Schifino, Nick Smith or Bufkin at 16.
