UPDATE! 2/5/2013
The Houston Rockets have tied this record today against the Golden State Warriors! They drained 23 threes on 40 attempts and probably would have broken the record if Mark Jackson didn’t start intentionally fouling Houston late in the game.
Nonetheless, congratulations to James Harden, Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons and the rest of the Rockets!

In a truly historic night for the Orlando Magic, they broke numerous records in a high-scoring rout of the Sacramento Kings, shooting an insane 23 of 37 from three-point range, shooting a staggering 62 percent.
The records they broke on that night include:
NBA record for threes in a game (23)
Franchise record for threes in a game (23)
Kings opponent record for threes in a game (23)
Franchise record for points in a first half (75)
Kings opponent record for points in a half (75)
NBA record for threes in a half (13)
Franchise record for threes in a half (13)
Kings opponent record for threes in a half (13)
And they might have set a new record for most players on one team making at least one three-point field-goal (9)
David Steele and Matt Goukas with the call.

@xviperzero Howard plays a big part of why Orlando hits so many 3s, He is the best C in the league so opposing teams will double team him leaving players like Turkoglu, J-Rich, Redick open for 3.
@xviperzero shooters shoot like this bcoz they the center attracts defenders inside, leaving the outside open for shots. moreover, with a center like dwight howard, even if a shot misses there is a good chance of getting an offensive rebound under the basket. the best way to stop a team like this is to stop the center with another strong center and get rebounds. den the shooters will not only be guarded better, but will also hesitate taking a low percentage shot.
Seemed like the Magic had a great night!
dropping bombs like the…t_l_b_n
the sacramento crowd just walked away.observe them as time passes by.
who the fuck is Jeremy Richardson lol
anthony johnson looks funny, wheres he now?
I believe he's retired now.
I never saw the 15th or 16th threes. It just skipped from #14 to #17.
It's Jeremy RIchardson not Jason Richardson
Where is the home court advantage?
to those die hard Orlando Magic fans. one question, was it smart to break up the 09 Magic? couldnt they have built around that apperance in the Finals?
3-point plays maybe? hahaha
My all-time favourite roster last time round… so sad with what orlando landed up with now..
also the game where orlando and warriors combine for 36 3s haha
It Jason Richardson
They scored 69 points 😉
Didn't he say it WAS jeremy richardson?
at 6:03 the commentator says jeremy richardson!
We see this because Houston tied record
still is. the rockets didn't break it.
Atleast they werent facing mark jackson and the warriors… Fucking flagrant fouls to prevent the breaking. BS. "warriors" my ass.
i miss the old magic 🙁
ahhhh, the new nba. Seems like 3-point records (individual and team) are being broken every year.
me too :((
shutup slappas
23 three pointers???!!! That's UNBELIEVABLE!!! The Magic scored 140 points in that game too!!! Those 23 threes add up!!! That's why the Magic won by almost 40 points!!!
Let's go Orlando Magic
Sick, they were on fire.
Damn, they got more shooters than the JFK assassination.
Boring asz commentary.
That team made the finals the same year
That Magic team was the first true 3 point "spread" offense… from there, the entire NBA has copied their example. The difference is Howard though; drawing defenses away from the shooters. But they were stacked with shooters.
That recod's in trouble tonight!
Cavs just set a new record with 25.
The main difference from this 3-point team performance and what you see nowadays from GSW, Rockets & Cavs is, just look at the tempo and shotquality. This Magic team shared the ball very well but not in an uptempo style like in these days, far slower but yet also effective. When you watch the Cavs, Rockets or GSW shoot and make a lot of 3's, many of those shots are also contested and very deep. If any of these Magic players took those kind of shotattempts Stan Van Gundy would bench them and kill them immediately. All the 3's in this video are wide open. Amazing to think that this Magic team with Stan as HC was the origin of 3-point spread offense.
