the Mavs really put themselves in a bad situation. they gave up assets for Kyrie and if they don't re-sign him they've basically just regressed the team for nothing. but if they sign him, it doesn't look like it'll be a good fit on the court. i guess they can explore sign & trades with other teams but they're not going to get back what they gave up and it'll make them look even worse than they already do.
I see what Kyrie is doing. He did it in Brooklyn. Now he wants to do it in Dallas. In Brooklyn he went to the front office and said I can bring u KD. So he could get the max. Which he did but he didn't get the extension because they knew he was a huge headache. Now he's attempting to do the same with Dallas. It's not gonna work.
