The Celtics are a rudderless ship. They are not going to pull their head out of their ass long enough to figure out what his market value is, let alone sign him. But Boston would be the perfect place for him given what massive chokers they are. He would fit right in.
Trade Smart and Payton for a big man, sign CP as the starter with Brogdon coming off the bench.

If cp3 willing to be a vet and help JT and JB and can be a good locker room vet and can handle the ball cause he is a floor general that celtics could trust to handle the ball in pressure situations and won't turn the ball over cause cp3 can dribble and JB won't have to that would take some pressure off JT and JB and the sun's waived him so celtics wouldn't have to give up much to get him maybe Pritchard and Pritchard already want out anyway
Nope. Pass. Only way this makes sense is if we're trading smart, brogdon AND pp this offseason.
1. Locker room issues. too much noise here that it's a concern.
2. We have 4 pgs who need playing time. We're developing another in Maine. We need to be getting rid of 1-2 pgs. Not bringing another in.
3. Getting another pg who needs playing time means Mazzula stupidly leans into small ball more when our best configuration is the double big.
The celtics needs this offseason are:
1. a new starter level rotation big who can shoot 3's that wont get abused on defense.
2. a 3ND wing
Lots of people in the comments getting lost in the name recognition and not checking out his age, injury history and advanced stats.

Paul would eat to many of a our guards minutes in Boston

so laughable in the comments seeing people campaign to sign this guy. we arent getting prime CP3 y'all. we are getting the shell of CP3 who's getting older, more prone to injury and with declining numbers. lots of people going via name recognition. he's supposed to be retiring at this point. if he still had value, the suns wouldn't have waived him.
CP3 isnt a good fit for Mazzula's system either. here's what mazzula needs out of the PG position:
1. good 3 point shooter
2. good defender and strong/lengthy enough to play up a spot
3. secondary ball handler/playmaker who can make quick decisions (Think 0.5 spurs basketball)
4. doesn't turn the ball over
5. doesn't need the ball to be effective/can play off the ball
essentially the PG in mazzula ball is a smaller 3ND guy.
the real PG in mazzula's system are the wings, the J's.
