As soon as you mentioned Bill Simmons, I knew exactly where this was going. Simmons has gone out of his way to bash Minnesota every chance he gets, after Taylor hired Khan instead of him for GM. Everything he says about the Wolves should be taken with a Boulder of salt…😂
Tim Connelly did screw this team over. However i don’t think he’s idiot. There’s a difference here. He’s an intelligent GM who made the worst trade we have seen in ages = which presents a fascinating case. Tim built the nuggets. Tim got us Kyle Anderson (who literally might be one of the top 25 Wolves of all time). Tim sold high on Dlo (dub), and got us Mike Conley, NAW, and 3 2nd round picks.
My assessment of Tim will be this: Who are you guys to prioritize going forward? Anthony Edwards? Or the ideology of KAT/Gobert co-existing. If Tim Conley can appropriately move off of KAT, and fit the correct pieces around Ant, then I would consider him a good GM. The Dlo trade and kyle anderson signing were to the benefit of Ant.
If Tim Connelly continues to run it back with KAT/Gobert, and have Ant’s wishes be secondary, then i deem Connelly to be an idiot.
I give Connelly some grace because mistakes DO happen. People are human. Let’s just see how he cleans it up. Then we can properly assess.
