Shaq won championships with Kobe and DWadeā€¦.

    One of his Dumbest takes

  2. dk240996

Ah, back to this old chestnut. If it didn’t happen when we could’ve traded for KD, it is not happening period…

… unless someone offers a king’s ransom for JB.

  3. Coco1520

I think this next season will determine the duo’s future. Either they silence the haters or I think the chances of them being split skyrockets.

  4. death-by_snu_snu_

Heā€™s better a thought big guyā€¦ stop dining with Brittany Reiner

  5. a1mrbhelpuri

Shaq was seen out with Britney Rennerā€¦ I wouldnā€™t really trust his judgement on anything šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

  6. panzerfausted

Well I always thought that JT was the leader of the team and JB as his sidekick. So I don’t see any problem with that

  7. Dangerous_Toe_5482

I feel like shaq always switches this take depending on how the Celtics are doing. I swear ive heard him say you cant split them up

  8. _Juntao

I don’t often agree with shaq. And I still don’t, but I’m torn and the heat series really dampened my enthusiasm that brown and tatum can win a title together.

Look at how well jokic and murray mesh together. We can try to pretend otherwise but it’s no secret at this point brown and tatum don’t necessarily ~~compliment~~ complement each other very well on the court. Add on to the fact that if we supermax jaylen we’re pretty much capped out and can’t add any quality around them. It’s a legitimate question to ask if brown and tatum are capable of ever winning a title together. And it’s not a knock on either of them, it’s just the reality of the situation.

  9. Why is Shaq identified as ā€œformer Celticā€? Even if Paul Pierce delivers a take on like KD Kyrie drama this season, no one refers to him as ā€œformer Netā€.

  10. saluting

Pretty clear itā€™s Tatums team was never really a question

Donā€™t hire Shaq as Celtic POBO. If we listen to the talking heads we wouldā€™ve trade Jaylen mid-season last year for pennies on the dollar. Stick to the plan. The Jays will keep getting better. 28 other teams would kill to have what we have.

  12. Laszlo-Panaflex

Ironic considering that he joined the Big 3 + Rondo to try to win a title in his last year.

  13. doflamingo34

I kinda do think Marcus Smart thinks he’s on the level of JB and JT just by the decisions he makes like Marcus’s goal every night should be to at least get 7-10 assists.

  14. LCBloodraven

I donā€™t think you trade Jaylen unless you are convinced you cannot win with the Jays. Personally, I still believe the Jays can win a chip with continued improvement and some marginal additions on the edges of the roster.

I think there is logic behind wanting your 2nd best player to have strengths that can help make up for your 2nd best players inefficiencies. Brown and Tatum are sort of the opposite since they have a similar playstyle.

In theory if I could do a 1 for 1 trade to get a player equally as valuable as Brown, but could help the Celtics against bad match ups for Tatum I would. Either a smaller quicker guard who could exploit bigger teams that can swallow up Tatum or a big who can take better advantage of a lack of paint presence than a wing, though Tatum has gotten a lot better at that over the last couple seasons.

The issue I have is people suggest trading for less talent or a 2 for 1 trade to get some role players. This is still a talent driven league and having a guy who can take over a game isn’t worth sacrificing for depth.

  16. jotyma5

I wish someone would force brown and Tatum to train together this off season. Work on their game together

  17. Kolzig33189

Yeah Shaq totally, it looks like the nuggets are really struggling right now with their 2 stars.

  18. EndlessCola

I agree with him but we donā€™t get to just pick the perfect team whenever we want. In fact the new CBA is going to make this even harder moving forward

  19. goldfish_11

Shaq has the shittiest hoops takes. Man just doesnā€™t actually know the game.

  20. Icy-Campaign9710

They need to stay together if they want to win a championship, without one of them, it can end it a disaster for Boston.

  21. 27percentfromTrae

These old heads need to take a seat

  22. wilsonh915

You’re also going to want a rogue and a healer.

  23. chmcgrath1988

    Que?

Shaq had notable All Stars as sidekicks throughout his prime. Penny in Orlando, Kobe in LA, DWade in Miami, heck even Nash in Phoenix. His takes on the modern NBA are about as lazy and not through like some of his offseason training regimens in the early ’00s.

  24. TheNotoriousJTS

I don’t take roster building advice from Shaq

  25. LeftHandFree111

So DWhite and Al weren’t shooters all season? Marcus isn’t a leader? Rob isn’t a rebounder? They just fell apart towards the end of the year and couldn’t get it done. Al didn’t have enough gas left in the tank. Rob can’t stay healthy. What “5 stars” is he talking about though? This isn’t the Kyrie/Gordon Celtics. If he wants to argue to break up the Jays then yeah, personally I disagree, but I’m certainly willing to listen to arguments. Consideration is warranted at the very least at this point. I can’t argue that. However, Shaq is all over the place with this quote. Is the full quote in context more coherent? Talk about the specific question marks you have with each individual player and how they fit together as a whole. Form an orderly argument- don’t just say things that pop into your head big fella lol. Just come out and say what you mean Shaq. You don’t think Jaylen Brown can be a number 2. That’s what he really wants to say but won’t.

Shaq and Chuck really don’t deserve to be considered analysts. They don’t even know the names of role players on most teams. There are former players who deserve their seats much more, but we all know it’s all about the entertainment value.
