If he wants to give up on a ring and just help a future star, sure

Meh. I don’t really see the point of adding him at this point of his career.

Spurs always thrown into articles like this.

  4. There are definitely worse ways to spend our abundant cap space. Throw him on a 2 year deal to provide some veteran leadership. That’s assuming he doesn’t care about winning a title anymore, so I don’t really see this happening. A guy can dream though. I love CP3.

Well if KOC is saying it we can safely ignore it

If you want to make the playoffs to get the young core experience it makes sense. Sooner they taste playoff basketball the better IMO.

I’m pretty shocked how many spurs fans are either apathetic, or downright against, this move. It makes a ton of sense and would be actually extremely exciting for the young Spurs to have one of the greatest table setters, and playmakers, of all time running the offense for them.

Quite simply Chris Paul would make things easy for a team trying to find its way and understand how much a lot of its young players can do, and do well, while growing on both ends. Ends. Having a guy who’s not going to be hunting his own shot, who’s intelligent, and who’s going to set a very high standard on defense, to get the ball where guys need it and to keep things humming would be incredible.

I can’t think of a player we could realistically obtain. Who would be a better fit for rookie Victor, while he conditions himself and starts to work on his game. He would probably get 10 points A game simply off of Chris Paul lobs, layups, cuts, and easy buckets generated from his intelligence.

Sure, if we were trying to genuinely win, adding Paul wouldn’t make a ton of sense since he’s just not going to be, at this point in his career, able to move the needle by himself.

But what we need is an intelligent floor general and playmaker who’s going to allow the peripheral players to get easy baskets and take some of that playmaking stress off their plates so they can focus on refining important parts of their game.

I’m not sure why Chris Paul would want to come here outside of getting a payday, but if it’s mutual, San Antonio absolutely should jump on the opportunity. It’s an extremely low risk, high reward short-term investment that could pay huge dividends to San Antonio’s roster development and long-term progress

He’s a high basketball IQ player on both sides of the ball and far as I’m aware, CP3 also had a great work ethic throughout his career. There’s a bunch of subtle things he could teach our young players, which is what you want from vets.

I would absolutely take him for 2 years if he’s available, still gives us a lot of flexibility for our PG of the future.

I would love if we signed Paul, look what he did for SGA and the Thunder a couple years back. If Sochan and Vassell take that next step, with Paul leading them plus Wemby, this would be a playoff team.

I love my Spurs but this makes no sense. Wemby is absolutely a generational talent however that doesn’t mean we can expect the Spurs to become legitimate title contenders right away.

Having Cap Space is huge and the Spurs should look to use that space to fill the roster will young talent and specialists to play roles that take pressure off of Wemby.

There are much better options for both the Spurs and Chris Paul. As cool as it would be it doesn’t make much sense to me.

  11. A 39 yr old, ball-dominant, injury-prone, aging defender would be perfect for our young core in today’s fast pace & athletic wing-centric modern NBA. And of course who better to relate to a French teenager.

No thank you! Maybe 3 years ago, but not today. We’re good

People have talked about Chris Paul joining forces with the Spurs for ages.

It would make sense if Cp3 already had a ring, but he more than likely will want to play on a true contender rather than take a mentorship role for a young squad.
