It would appear Toronto is still considering former Bucks associate head coach Charles Lee for its head coaching vacancy in addition to the aforementioned trio of Virtus Bologna and Spanish national team coach Sergio Scariolo, Golden State Warriors assistant coach Kenny Atkinson and Memphis Grizzlies assistant coach Darko Rajaković. Word is Lee recently had a second interview with the Raptors and longtime Boston-based NBA scribe Steve Bulpett reported Friday night that “the completion of some NBA coaching staffs is being held up until it is learned whether” Lee lands the Toronto job.

Ok I’ve seen way too many names considered as “finalists” or “still under consideration”, I’m convinced no one knows who we’re actually hiring and it’s gonna be someone completely random 2 days before the draft.

I couldn’t even care less at this point. I’ll wait until they actually hire someone and then half this sub will complain about it anyway as if they know what they’re on about, lol.
I, for one, am glad that they’re taking as long as they need to.
We have a very competent front office and massive decisions to make. Them being thorough and taking their time on a decision that will impact the next decade of raptors ball is fine by me.
I think part of the difficulty has to be related to the state of the roster.
What do you even pitch to a prospective coach? 3/5 starters are free agents, the other two are on expiring deals and have been in trade talks all year. On top of that, this late into the process the coach probably isn’t going to be involved at all with the upcoming draft.
Think of the other way around. What if you come in for an interview talking about how you are going to develop the young talent on the team and turn Barnes into a 1st option star when the plan ends up being to bring everyone back and try to compete? Or what if you talk about competing but FVV and Trent walk?
