If I’m the Sixers owner I’d be doing a heck of a lot more local outreach. Chinatown is a formidable political force.
Being present at these protests and listening to residents would be a good sign that you want to work with the community and not against them.

NO ARENA IN CHINATOWN!
NoirStar215
THE SITE IS NOT IN CHINATOWN, I repeats it’s not in Chinatown. They are just going to expand Chinatown north of vine anyway, it’s inevitable.
All this bitching about the stadium, how about not being the most Xenophobic race in America and I might give a flying fuck! Chinese were never minorities until “Covid-19”, now they’re marginalized and victimized minorities in America. FOH! I make a point to wear my Sixers Gear everytime I’m down that bitch!

the reality is that these people are irrelevant in the discussion. the stadium will be built and this part of city will be much better because of this. Thank you Sixers for improving our city.

They don’t deserve one but the fans do

It’s a terrible idea been saying since it was proposed. Josh Harris pay the tax bitch.

There has to be a scenario where both can win? I lived in DC for a while and loved Capital One Arena being down town. Would always hit up a bar or local restaurant before a game and usually after.

Why aren’t they protesting where the stadium will be built on Market St.?
Express_Jellyfish_28
In solidarity! No one wants this stadium there except Sixers ownership.

Curious how many people would march for a new arena at the same site.

I still haven’t come across a single person IRL that thinks this stadium is a good move.

What do we need to make the stadium down town happen? There’s gotta be something the locals want.

The last thing I want to do is drive into CC to watch a Sixers game. I’m not taking public transportation, I love my life. Find a way to build a new arena at the complex!

How about no discussion about a new arena until they make it out of the second round

I’ve grown up in center city, I say… arena! Housing in china town has ton of open space in buildings , they places that bring money can remain and those that don’t will not. Like (sang kee, Vietnam etc.. sit on 9th street they will remain) the buildings that are owned by slum lords there should be reconsidered anyway… the other side of vine has a ton of housing that is still mostly made up and considered “Chinatown” that will also remain …. Doing away with the “fashion district” comes with it and that was a total waste of space. Why did we build a mall and a movie theater in an era when these things were essentially becoming a thing of the past. I happened to go in there the other day and no one was shopping, no one was at that AMC movie theater , the plan again, would do away with that and who cares…. Parking? The whole idea is that u suburban fucks who are so scared of the train will now use it.. THEY WILL ADD A STOP RIGHT UNDER THE ARENA.. so don’t worry , you won’t have interact with people on the street which is what the real fear of the train is And if that’s not good enough , don’t worry there will be parking … you’ll have plenty. It worked in DC , and our Chinatown off of 9th street isn’t too much better. …. It worked well in DC…
Also- when is the last time any of you put your family in your big stupid car , and took all your kids to Chinatown minus 9th street ???? What are you loosing ?

I’m not Philadelphian, can someone give me some context on why people are protesting?
jayradano
Put it on the waterfront in South Philly where that casino was going to go back in day. We need to start taking adv of the waterfront in Philly, there’s so much room for growth and advancement. It’s what the future of the city is imo, a bustling waterfront with nice attractions and business for locals and tourists.
