I mean in theory it absolutely should. The cynic in me keeps thinking “well he got what he wanted, maybe that’s enough for him”.

The image of his g7 body language is just burned into my brain

Embiid is not that guy. He had his chance to silence anyone doubting his mvp and we all saw what he did

You know what’s good motivation? Winning a fucking championship. There will always be haters out there especially for a Philadelphia team…”no one likes us we don’t care”.

It’s a stupid take to discredit Joel’s MVP because he was quite simply the best basketball player during the regular season, and the award is not supposed to be tied to playoff performance what so ever.

He deserves criticism for his playoff performance, although he was playing a torn mcl (in which case the take that he can’t stay healthy through the playoffs is fair).

Win a championship, that’s all that matters. Even if he does that, there will still be people out there saying how it doesn’t count or something to undermine it.

We say this every year. He goes into the playoffs not 100% every year and every year it kills his mental momentum.

Jokic has a better team around him and a better coach. Joel can’t fix that

We literally say this every year after each humiliating playoff loss.

He’s not that guy. Never has been. Won’t magically turn into him in his 10th year in the league.

He’ll just quit again in an elimination game.

He will see it and likely improve nothing. It’s a shame too. Lord knows he has the talent for it

How much more motivation does one man need? We’ve lost in the most annoying, back breaking ways for 6 fuckin years lol

  10. FancyKilerWales

Bro what else does he need, he has all the motivation in the world, he just doesn’t have that killer mentality in him and it shows every playoffs

  11. dday3000

He said he would use the Kawhi jump shot as motivation. He hasn’t.

  12. Outside of winning a title, there is nothing Embiid can ever do regain respect in the NBA community at large. I don’t think he can ever become a loveable loser in Philly like Barkley or Iverson. He has to win.

Fun fact: the Sixers won more playoff games this year than the Nuggets did in Jokic’s two MVP seasons…combined. Why was nobody discrediting his regular season award and wanting to retroactively give it to whatever superstar made it far?

  14. It’s the same path that both Giannis and Jokic took

Win mvp, get mocked for not winning a ring, win a ring

Wishful thinking: now that the MVP has been won, he will finally learn to maintain his play his play in the regular season, get back into hitting 3s, moving the ball (mainly to tyrese, harden-?, pj, and bball 🙏), and reserving his energy for a real playoffs push.
