I’m also not privy to the salary cap rules so someone correct me if I’m wrong, but as of today I don’t think we could sign him as a free agent (besides a vet min) because we are already over the cap

Raptors fan here. I get why our fanbase is so frustrated by Fred but he’s being overhated. He’s still a top 15 guard in the league, and frankly, I’d rather pay Fred $120M x 4 than even more than that for Harden’s retirement laps if I was you guys.
He has his limitations, but if you guys acquire him, it would have to be because Harden walked and you guys doing a S&T with Tobias Harris going the other way with some draft assets. I honestly think that opens up so much more flexibility for your franchise to put pieces together than to give into Harden holding a gun to your head.
I mean I’d take him for cheap for sure. Anything more and it’s not worth it especially considering we have 2 small guards who are rotation locks
