There's so many factors that go into developing a really good player from a non-lottery pick. I don't think picks are as important when trying to satisfy a top 5 player now. Every team is hoping to land a franchise player so they can maximize their window of opportunity of getting a chip.
Nah, a pick that far into the future just means the team has 6 whole years to get rings and draft picks, it's a plus for the Mavs, not a negative
