Follow up tweet: “As I’ve said the entire time, any trade that does or doesn’t happen involving the third pick will happen while they’re on the clock. Need to see what Charlotte does first.”
Had an exec (not with the Blazers) tell me lottery night that the third pick is "a hell of a lot more valuable than the fourth pick." Starting to see the reports of all the teams that want to move up for Scoot. That's why.

Jumping to 3rd was really such a silver bullet for us. It might not fix us in one shot, but it certainly made us go from ‘fucked’ to ‘fuckin around’
Add in 23, Ant, and Sharpe and we might have enough for OG.
Then they will trade up to Pick 2. Makes no sense for other teams to target the 3rd pick which will have no guarantee of Scoot being there. If teams are trading up for Scoot, it will be for Pick 2.
Highkin’s been saying this since the lottery. FO is steady, everyone else has been making noise around it.
We’ve all already known this, national media has just been trying to gaslight us for a month about how it’s worthless lmao
This is why all the downplay talk about the third pick not being worth much was just BS.
It’s like, “one higher pick” valuable!
Maybe if it’s that sought after then we should keep it…Watching Scoot and Shae develop into stars sounds pretty fucking awesome.
Need to see what Charlotte do first? On the clock deal you say?
But Blazers Uprise told me that because we haven’t traded the pick yet, that means the front office was LYING TO DAME because they hate him.
We’ve been hoodwinked, bamboozled, led astray, run amok and FLAT OUT DECEIVED.
Yes, which is why they have to get something done. Asset is too valuable.
Any casual fans knows this. This draft has 3 elite prospects and then everyone else.
Does it become just another pick if Scoot is gone by #3?
That’s kind of what everyone has been saying this whole time even leading up to the lottery. 1st is obviously tier 1, then big drop to 2nd and 3rd for tier 2 and then another big drop after that.
We will get a lot of calls on and leading up to draft night. Looking forward to what Cronin, Schmitz and crew do!
POR can’t trade the pick ahead of the pre-draft pick trading moratorium – Unless/until the CHI situation is resolved…
So what Sean means by that is – If POR does not legally trade the pick before DD – You can’t legally trade the “pick” on DD… You have to draft the rights to the player, then trade the rights to that player, “on the clock”, on DD, to do a DD deal of any kind…
POR will “draft the rights to” a player at #3, technically speaking, before any trade for #3 can be made, unless/until the CHI thing gets cleared up no more than 48 hours(?) before DD…
It’s not your fault. We have been abused. But to all of those that keep down playing our assests because we are not used to actually having any, please understand just how crazed front offices get about the best in the draft cut-off line after the season is over.
And if they don’t offer is what it is worth. Screw ‘em they missed out
