Mathurin Bigger Role

Good Morning Pacer nation

Agness pointed out that Mathurin is assuming to have the position of starting SF next year.

However, I’m starting to see a trend in his comments. He’s assuming to have a bigger role next year

I read a short interview on hoops hype, and these words come up over and over again.

I do like that he takes the responsibility personally, but wonder if it’s his actual confidence saying this (assumptive selling), or if he will in fact have an expanded role next year
I think it’s great how serious he is, and that he has a chip on his shoulder about not winning ROTY per article

Thoughts?

He should be a starter this year, full stop. There’s no argument against it. If you have to drop Buddy then you do it.

I don’t see why he wouldn’t have a bigger role next year. He proved to be a good player, that has some things to work on for sure. I can definitely see him, nembhard, and tyrese starting together next season and mathurin getting more minutes

He clearly wants to start…He’s attempting to coerce Rick.

If he gets 30+ mpg he’s probably a 20ppg guy unless he hits a sophomore slump too

I really hope he takes over the SF starting spot. If we can start Tyrese, Buddy, Math, (Rookie), Turner I think we’re in a good spot.

Mathurin doesn’t know what position he will play next year. He will undoubtedly play multiple positions.

This off-season could see the roster flipped in a significant way. Lots of moves expected and with all of KP’s optionality it’s about impossible to predict what roles will be coming in and going out let alone players.

I THINK Mathurin will start, and I THINK Mathurin will play more minutes than last year.

I’m not sure how I feel about him long term at the 3. Can he guard the bigger SFs in the league? He’s a strong guy but I feel like he makes more sense as an SG long term. Maybe they’re thinking a 3 guard lineup of Ty, Nemby, Math with Hendricks or Jarace at the 4.
