Free agent bigs that may be a better match for the Timberwolves than Naz Reid

There’s no question that the Minnesota Timberwolves would love to bring back Naz Reid in free agency. But even beyond his desired salary, is he the best basketball fit for the Wolves roster? Ben Beecken (@bbeecken) debates the fit from a salary perspective, as well as a look at how many minutes Naz would actually play for a team that already employs two centers on max contracts. What other free agent bigs could be a better fit? Also, the many connection points between the newly-crowned NBA champion Denver Nuggets and the Timberwolves.

  1. I somehow think your ideal scenario is the Wolves getting rid of both Naz Reid and KAT. Re-balances our finances and team makeup. We would, of course, keep McLaughlin, because … well, just because. Not likely to win any more games, really. Have to educate the fans on new reasons to root for players that may be churned away. Is there any way you could actually measure the level of churn of the roster of the Wolves vs the League? Seems we lowly fans have to endure massive overturn all the time. The goal should be to keep and continue to develop our own rather than spending money on different players. Probably the most important component in the Nuggest winning it all is the patience the team showed to stick with much of their core and only lose fringe players (I would classify Barton as one of those, not Naz).

  2. 😆 it seems like every time I watch one of your vids, you're giving reasons on why not signing Naz Reid. Even tho he's brings similar things that kats does, plus he's a better ball handler that can take his man off the dribble.
