    I would never want to see Smart traded, Id rather they trade JB or Brogdon as you would get more…… unless you know what Smart provides and all he does on Defense or calling out JT and JB when they get out of hand…. we would NEVER EVER get equal value as no one knows what he does that are not C's die hards….. loved your take @John as I do feel he is mis used, and like JT he should be posted up in the post to bully ball teams 5 to 8 times every game

    I love Smart but when did he ever become a must play crunch time guy? He is better as a 6th man energy guy.

    Misused? First it was he needs to be the point guard so they allow him to do that, he underperforms at that and now he’s being “misused”. When can we just admit when a player is just not good enough? He’s not particularly a good decision maker on the court and that is evident in his often horrible shot selection and risky pass attempts especially in key moments. He’s not a good shooter so he can’t play off ball, he’s not a good enough playmaker to take any real pressure off of Tatum and Brown, and he’s not a good self creator of offense, like why are we still beating this dead horse?

    I love a Smart/White starting backcourt. I also like White bringing the ball down 1/3 the time and can hand-off to Marcus , whatever. The point is Smart always bringing the ball down does call a spacing problem because people know he can’t shoot too well.

    I’m fine if they keep Smart, if they trade him though it better be for a tall guard (at least 6’3) who is either a great playmaker or a knockdown shooter.

    Just like Forsberg said, who are you trading Smart for? I’m sure you can find a pg that’s a better offensive player, but who’s gonna bring it more than Smart on the defensive side? Offensively, he’s good. They took the ball out of his hand this season. Maybe the injury played a part in his performance but he’s still the best pg for this squad.

    I love John’s opinion on Smart bc the reality is there are so many teams/contexts where he would suck. But, if you need a pass-first, defensive monster PG, there’s really no one like him and to be real, the Jays need some toughness and Smart leads that charge.

    If Smart is able to 1) be the best defender 2) give 8 assists per game… it's not easy to trade for an improvement!

    Marcus is a hustler and he's the heart and soul and veteran of this team. I'd hate to lose him.
