> **According to the league sources, the Spurs are telling teams their preference is to trade for another first round pick. The names I’ve heard most often when discussing that possibility with NBA scouts are Anthony Black and Kobe Bufkin.**

The article only mentioned 2 names but I added Cason Wallace because of his popularity here.

I am very high on Black (was my pick if we dont end up picking top 3) but I think he will go so early that it will be too expensive to trade up for him
Wallace seems more realistic.
Bufkin is kind of a wildcard. he has been rising for the last weeks to the point where a lot of mock drafts have him sneaking into the top10 now so hard to say how much it would take.
all 3 would be solid choices tho.
I’ve really gravitated towards Wallace the more I’ve watched him.
Black is a better overall passer, and I’ve had him 1 spot higher on my Big Board for a while, but the relevant difference between them isn’t huge as Wallace actually did impress me quite a bit with his ability to hit rolling bigs with either lobs or pocket passes. As such, the difference in shooting becomes a bigger deal for me in regards to how they fit with Wemby, and that’s the most important thing for me.
I also kind of just have Bufkin a tier below both these other guys. I see the flashes. But the efficiency and decision making just aren’t there for me, so I’d consider Bufkin a nice consolation prize, not a primary target.
My preference would be Black, because IMO he is clearly the best prospect of the bunch and he’s the most tantalising “fit” if he gets to even 75% of his ceiling. Im just not sure how much it will cost to move up to that range of the draft and whether that will be worth it. (Could we get a pick in the 6-8 range without including Keldon or a bunch of future picks?)
I also don’t see why so many people here are so into Cason Wallace, especially for where he is mocked to be taken and what it will cost to get him. I just don’t see him having enough upside, or at least it will be very hard for him to get there – and to make it worth us trading a bunch of future assets to get him if he goes in the top 10.
Instead, someone like Bufkin or JHS, who are both a tier below, so should be a lot easier to get if they fall to the end of the lottery, would have just as much upside as Wallace whilst being much cheaper.
Black is the highest ranked prospect so the assets to get him would prolly be too much and I’m not willing to do so.
Bufkin is a late riser. I really like him but I don’t think he’s really what we need. He’s not that great of a playmaker and he’s more of a shooting player. He’s really great overall so I wouldn’t mind, but I have some questions about the fit.
Wallace is my dude since the very early day so I’m biased, hut to me he’s the one worth pursuing. He seems to be dropping a little, maybe because he’s more of a low-potential high-floor guy, but I kind of disagree with this, I see ton of potential. He’s one if not the best guard defender I’ve ever scouted (since 2016) and he’s a wonderful floor general. He doesn’t need the ball on his hands too much to be impactful. He also said that in general he didn’t show too much of his shooting creation and I’m curious if it’s true.
