This isn’t a Dort hate post but he really needs to improve his finishing.
He’s actually turned into a solid 3pt shooter. If he improved his finishing he would be a top 70 player in the league. He said in his exit interview he was working on taking better shots so if he does that it would be a big step.
Interesting tidbit…name the 2 players in this year’s draft that are at the top of a lot of people’s Thunder wishlists were worse rim finishers this year?

The consolation is that with chet and improvements to our other player’s offensive game, dort’s number of shots will go way down. Hopefully with less volume he’ll focus more on shot quality than forcing it

Am a Dort stan. The rim finishing is really painful at times though.

I will not tolerate Dort slander. That being said, he will be able to focus on defense this season with the emergence of JDub being a future star and Chet returning + whatever draft pick we get this year. Hope he turns into a Tony Allen type player where he doesn’t take more than 7FGA per game and let the rest of our team carry the load there while he shuts down the opposing best player.

He’s shown signs of having decent touch around the rim, it’s just a matter of reigning him in. In his exit interview, he said he wants to improve his shot selection. This is where rubber meets road, if he sticks to corner 3’s and attacking closeouts instead of operating as a downhill driver, we should see his efficiency at the rim skyrocket.
I’m coming more around on Dort being a long term starter for us. He’s a really really good corner 3 guy, I don’t feel like looking the exact number up, but at one point last season he was knocking down 48% of them. A reigned in Dort can be one of the better role players in the league.

I find the fact that Trae Young is on this list to be HILARIOUS.

It’s hard to finish at the rim when you are barreling to the basket wildly out of control.
Also, that gap to #2 is gigantic.

He’s in pretty good company though haha. 54-57% is a pretty big jump though.
haleocentric
It’s only really a liability when he’s going 2 for 15 on the night.
Edit: what’s crazy is that Dort has the second highest attempts only to Green who was the #1 option on a bad team that didn’t run a system.
Dismal_Parfait8685
Needs to work with Zion, he always finds a way to finish 😂
fordfuryk
Dort is a below average 3p shooter. I don’t define that as solid.
