I disagree u got kuzma, Trent, Cam, Levert, u can get better in free agency it all just depends on Morey, is he a good enough GM to get the job done this off season??? The sixers won't win big until we get the right GM all 👀s on Morey!!
RB: There is no good contingency plan, but this is Psychology 1.01.
Morey is using others to get Harden worried if he doesn't agree to less money.
But it is true that Morey isn't interested in FVV, Beal, CP3 (he's re-signing w/PHO for a Min) or Dame.
But the contract MUST give James Harden security, so it MUST be for 4 yrs guaranteed.
Everything is about the 2nd Apron. It would be terrible to be above the apron for 3 yrs out of 5 (1st Rd pic from 2030 gets demoted to pic #30).
But Harden has to give a discount and maybe a decreasing or level $ amount.
HOU can pay Harden $47 M for year 1, but I doubt they are willing to do that for 3 yrs.
Morey can pay 135-140 M over 4 yrs, but NO player option should be allowed.

Korkmaz is cheap, and he’d be a great bench player. He’s exactly the 3&D player everybody wants the sixers to have. He was hidden in plain sight the entire time. If you give him confidence, he’d be a significant rotation player.
RB: Teams have 6.636 M to send out and 6.636 M to receive for the 2022-2023 season. I got the figure from Hoops Rumors for Cash for 2022-23. The Sixers have so far used none of their allowed cash, and it expires on June 30.
For next season if they are over the 2nd Apron, they are not allowed to use cash in trades or to buy 2nd rd pics.
That should be enough to buy a 2nd Rd Pic in the low 40s and have enough to buy a 2nd pic in the 50s.
I don't think a player has to be included to buy a 2nd rd pic, although the Sixers could always include some old Eurostash player .
There should be teams with so many 1st + 2nd rd pics, it would be no point to keep all their 2nd rd pics.
The Sixers used to have an excess of 2nd rd pics.
The advantage of 2nd rd pics is you don't have to guarantee their salary.
That would give Morey flexibility to sign them to G-League and maybe use as a 2-way player eventually.
With the possibility of Sixers going over the 179.5 M 2nd Apron with the re-signing of Harden, it will be necessary to get as many chances to find Gems.

Everything is about understanding the new CBA with the 2nd Apron.
As I said Reed and McDaniels must be re-signed. Reed is a RFA, so the Sixers can always match, but some team could offer him 10 M in yr one. Hopefully it won't be more than 5 M. I have McDaniels at 7 M by some team. Had Doc remained as coach, I bet McD would be leaving. But with Nurse, there is hope that Sixers would at least match.
I've also said that re-signing Niang is 3rd on list. I expect it will take 5 M and some kind words from Nick Nurse.
And I have long written off Shake Milton because its time for Springer to fill Shake's roll.
Shake could probably get at least 5 M elsewhere, with more playing time.
You cite Bryan Toporek, but Bryan and myself are pretty much in agreement that Sixers will concede 150 – 160 M for Harden over 4 yrs. The latest hints from Sixers is that they may be trying to get Harden to agree to even less, in order to get under the 2nd Apron and return everyone but Shake. The key however would be to have decreasing salary each season, so as to get under the 2nd Apron in the later years.
And Jake Fischer doesn't seem to have any inside knowledge.
To say that Morey has something up his sleeve is not newsworthy. None of us saw the 3 team trade to reduce team salary below the Tax, while returning McDaniels for Thybulle.
Leaks from Morey to Kyle Neubeck such as no interest in Beal, are what we should take seriously.
And everything coming from Morey, is that he re-signing Harden is #1 priority.
Trading Tobi is NOT going to happen this month, unless necessary to facilitate Harden.
Morey may not know before early July whether Harden will re-sign.
The rules will change to next season, come June 30, that might make trades more difficult.
They could be a few surprises on draft night that could filter down the Harden talkes.

I can't see Harden back. We know what he is at this point. A leader is not it. He wants the ball more in his hands. To do what? Miss a layup under the rim? He wants leader money. But remains inconsistent in play and attitude. Going to be interesting with Nike Nurse, Hines, and Jackson. If Toronto can develop a Van Fleet, we have to be able to develop Maxey as a ball handler.
“Not desperate” is great news. Giving Harden a four year deal is moronic. That would be worse than the Bradley Beal contract. And that’s horrendous. If by a miracle, they can get Harden for two, that’s fine. It would be regular season wins and a tradable player the next two years, but I doubt that’s happening
