Should the Pistons Trade the #5 Overall Pick? | Woodward Pistons NBA Draft Preview EP 10

Should the Pistons Trade the #5 Overall Pick?

This week Steve explores the trade options the Pistons have for the #5 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Can the Pistons trade up in the draft? Might it help the restoration to trade down in the draft? Or might the best course of action be to use the #5 overall pick to acquire a good NBA Veteran?

  1. No, young talent is the way to go. one of the Thompsons or maybe Whitmore. Move back into the first round and take the sharpshooter at UConn Hawkins, or GG Jackson. I prefer one of the Thompson twins you have to bring in another bonafide big guard in case Ivey or Cunningham gets injured, they have Superior ball handling and you can put either of them at small forward.

  2. I think they over complicating this. Instead over paying cam Johnson close to 30 mill as a role player just deaft hendrix whos a very similar player for way cheaper. He can come off the bench until he adjust to the nba and start tory craig and maybe another vet like pj Washington or Harrison barnes. If they can pull off the bojan trade for the 10th pick with dallas that would be a cool bonus. I doubt very seriously we move up because those teams are looking for vet players like jerami grant not more draft picks and mediocre players like bagley.

  3. Best scenario get whitmore at 5. Then they sign trade (bags. Killian. Bojan. Wiseman etc ). for porzingis. Starting 5. Duren. KP. Whitmore. Ivey. Cade šŸ„ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’Ž

  4. who is their really to get for just the 5th wout adding more draft capital or giving up ivey or duren…zion nope..Ingram will cost more…OG n bridges, brown will require probably 2 more 1st rounders maybe …take CAM and see how they fit cade, ivey, duren n cam.. 2024 we can make big trade if need better fit….we can add FAs and trade bojan for draft capital but i cant see a good player worth adding for 5th pk alone, wout adding additional pks or young players

  5. They just need to let the core develop. See what they look like as a unit with some games under their belt, THEN make a shopping list for veteran pieces.
Draft two high IQ / chemistry guys. I would love to find a way to get Jordan Walsh with a late pick.

  6. Would the Pistons trade the #5 Pick to the Golden a state Warriors for Jonathan Kuminga? I think in this draft heā€™d be the 3rd best prospect.

  7. This off-season is about to get crazyā€¦the names being put out there as possibly being moved is big time in Zion, Beal, Dame, All Raptors, Brown, Young let alone the free agency frenzyā€¦I could see Pistons being the Cavs like team there to help a big trade happen and they benefit from absorbing a contract much like Cavs did and landed Allen.

  8. Why do people think that ball handling and 1 on 1 skills canā€™t be developed. Iā€™d rather take a guy who can shoot and play defense And get his ball handling up later . Thatā€™s only because we got ball handlers already

  9. What do you think about #5 for Jonathan Kuminga and pick #19? A lot of people believe in Kuminga, and rumors say Warriors want to trade him to get a top 5 pick. Pistons get their wing in Kuminga who has NBA experience and just as much upside as anybody they'd get in the draft. With pick #19 they could do whatever they want, maybe GG Jackson if he's still there. Then if we trade Bogy to Dallas for #10 we can take Grady Dick. Who'd be mad if the Pistons walked out of the draft with all that?
