The new CBA was designed to hurt teams pairing max players. KD, Book, Beal, and Ayton by themselves put PHX over the luxury tax, and now they have no picks with Ish Wainwright as the only other player under contract. Fascinated to see how they fill the roster going forward

Y’all are overthinking this. Suns took 2 games off Denver with Book going nuclear. Ayton will be traded for depth. This is a home run.

Honestly, the new CBA likely won’t be enough to stop teams like the Suns/Clippers who care about winning at all costs.

They don’t have many future 1sts so might as well go all in for a year or two.

  3. Marks said on Twitter they’ll be 2nd apron for the next 3 years. So they’re all in. Ayton is probably getting traded for depth though. Richard Jefferson said during the finals he heard Ayton is gone.

They’re going all-in for a 3 year window. They’ll likely fill out their roster by retaining their free agents via bird rights/early bird rights (Torrey Craig, Jock Landale, etc.) and then vet. min. deals. If they play it right, it won’t be as shallow a team as most people think.

I think Vogel will recruit Dwight. He’s washed but he slowed down jokic and they need a jokic stopper

  6. Mat ishbia bout to play some good minutes

How tf do the Suns keep getting these trades without having to give up Ayton and they also have money enough to have KD, Booker and Beal contract while adding other pieces yet we seem broke each year and need to shop for players at ALDIs.

This is some New York Mets shit, can’t say I’m too moved by this trade

they have bird rights and can re-sign Londale and Craig. And they have a 2nd round pick in this draft. So thats 8 players, unless they trade Ayton for depth. Need to sign at least 4 more at the vet minimum

If I’m the Gm I would fill out the bench with old grizzled veterans for that championship mentality that only KD has right now for them along with some younger guys who have been in the league long enough that need to fill a void in the roster.

Just a list of names off the top of my head:
Trevor Ariza, Kent Bazemore, Rajon Rondo, Dwight Howard, Wayne Ellington, IT. Seems like an excellent fit to me

The worst of the new CBA doesn’t kick in until next season. But the Suns don’t seem to have a way to jettison salary if necessary. But maybe the lesson here is there is always a team willing to take any awful max contract.

  12. awibasedgod

they are going to have 4 or 5 guys making the minimum playing major minutes this year

  13. pericles123

Cam Payne is also under contract btw

  14. TorontoRaptors34

Suns gon have a 21-22 Lakers team😂 sure they got 2 and 1/2 guys in there prime who can shoot score 30 and close games but without depth it wont be enough

  15. Blue_Nyx07

at this point their 5th starter position is already questionable

I think there is a very real possibility that this trade was done for two reasons 1) ishbia does not care about paying the tax and wants to win now 2) there is a real chance devin booker forced a sign and trade or outright signs with a different team next year.

The Lakers were able to fill out their 2020 roster last minute, I figure so will the Suns

  18. ALovelyAnxiety

I can’t wait to see what our roster looks like next season q.q

  19. CabbageStockExchange

I’m curious if Vogel will be able to control this locker room and get these guys to play defense

  20. ultralitebiim

Must be nice having an owner with money.

  21. The_Locals

“Hmm our biggest problem last season was being so front-loaded with no real depth.”

    “Yea let’s do that again”

    Good job, suns

  22. SnooHedgehogs2050

I guess they feel like they don’t need a pg. Maybe if they get some GSW style ball and off ball movement going. Other then that they are taking turns playing iso.

beal not a winner just like kd. wont work. simple

That cupcake needs more help … lol

New cba doesn’t kick in til July 1st, so it’s important for any teams that want to do big money moves to do them before then. And even then, a lot of the crippling cba rules don’t go into effect until the 24-25 season. So this is the year teams who want to spend money like this should because after this season the cba kills all of that.

  26. anonanoobiz

Cam Paynes option will be picked up

Should have Craig’s bird rights as well but could be wrong

Biyombo was a min contract regular before should be again.

After that it’s who wants a prove it minimum deal. Any vet want big minutes on a playoff team to showcase themselves? Returning guys that could take a discount like Okogie, Warren, Ross

  27. GovTheDon

They basically need to turn ayton into 3 rotation players or I just don’t see how they won’t just have an awful bench

  28. RedditUser538xxx

This is like the weirdest super team lol

  29. rick_32

Interesting thing too is they have zero size… KD is the PF is thin (strong but thin) and can block some shots from the weak side but if you trade Ayton not only do you need wing/ PG players & depth but a starting center as well… Ayton ain’t that desirable eitherđŸ€·đŸŸ
