I’d rather have Harden than Beal, but I also have no faith that either of them will get a team over the line at this point and neither them are max players.

On a 4 year giant contract I’d probably rather have Beal.
1. He’s younger.
2. We have seen Hardens age catch up to him in the playoffs twice already and he’s only getting older.
Rather have neither on a giant contract though.
King_Wentz
Gotta go with neither

Harden is much better.
DanM142
We arguing now which potential contract is less bad lol?

Probably Beal, but can’t confirm bc when was the last time anybody saw a Wizards game

Beal and Harden aren’t all that different in age but the mileage on Beal is way, way less. Plus Beal will at least be in shape all year. Not to mention the party factor. When Harden could still get by people and finish at the rim the 6am last call at the after party wasn’t an issue but now… Please don’t fall for his bullshit Daryl do not extend his old busted ass. If he wants his player option there’s nothing anyone can do about it, but if he has a season like last year it will be adequate I suppose. Joel is gonna have to make another leap if they want to win anyway.

Harden’s value is 3/120. Any more than that and I think I’d rather take a gap year and reset the table next offseason with about $70M in space before we sign Maxey.
justabill71
No, Harden doesn’t deserve a max.
jawntothefuture
Harden is getting maxed. Probably by us. At least a 3 + 1, and he is better than Beal

If #1 was a super stud in the playoffs sure. But…

neither. Harden isnt better than beal either. Both are a wash

I don’t think “better” is the right word. Better *value*, maybe. In a vacuum, Harden is great and extremely difficult to replace. But then you have to factor in his age, his postseason reputation, his coachability and the absurd amount of money he’ll be commanding.
All that in mind, there are dozens of guys I’d rather have. Beal was one of them. Washington will flip CP3 soon. Vanvleet is available. I think Nurse is familiar with him. Or just see what we have in the young guys on first contracts.
Dry_Explanation_3724
beal being traded has nothing to do with harden still not deserving the max. or at least more than 2 years. a 2+1 player and team option is the most fair if he wants a max
CopperTylenol
We ain’t winning with a year older Harden. The problem is there is no immediate answer. A snowball of bad decisions put us in this place. The often hurt mvp, and the wrong pieces around him.

The sixers are stuck, lose Harden and what do you have? Take a gap year when Embiid is already 30? Sixers are in a bad bad way right now.
MumenriderPaulReed69
Doesn’t deserve the max

James Harden is easily the better player RN but he is also 4 years older than Beal. If a team gives Harden a massive 4 year contract how bad will Harden be when he’s 37 years old? He doesn’t appear to have the body type to age well. Beal is only 29 and could easily be just as good in 4 years as he is today if he’s lucky with injuries.
elliott9_oward5
Neither. I would take either for 2 years, but nothing more.
datBull036
Harden knows his best chance at getting that rung before retirement is us. He’s not going anywhere.
BalloonShip
Beal is being asked to be the #3 perimeter scorer on his team. Nobody *deserves* the max to play that role.
