Not sure how Bradley Beal will fit, but he cost the Suns NOTHING | The Athletic NBA Show
The Athletic NBA Show react to the Washington Wizards trading Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns and the implications this has on the Portland Trail Blazers and Damian Lillard.
It cost the suns 200m, tax and cap space. They cant find decent role players and only have six players on their roster. They have the best starter no doubt but you need to have a great supporting cast too coz these guys will get tired for playing big minutes.
No brainer for the Suns, despite the roster limitations that arise as a result of their cap sheet. You swap a washed 39 year old PG, who teams left open in tha playoffs for Beal
“They’re just gonna be Devin booker, Kevin surfer and Bradley Beal?” Let’s not forget that Book had basically the 2nd beat playoff time. He is dominant and competitive and everything a champion is.
It definitely cost them nothing which speaks to just how much the Wizards wanted to get rid of the contract. The only real question that many people will have is what happened to the Heat. I would think that for various reasons Beal would have preferred Miami ( the organizaton , tax considerations, familiarity with the conference, connections to Florida) so I am left thinking that the Wizards were determined to not have any contracts that were guaranteed beyond this year ( example- Herro). I think they are stuck with Ayton until the seasons starts because of his contract and his attitude. Indeed, I suspect they are hoping that he will improve under a new coach ( although I cannot see him and Vogel vibing ). I suspect they are overestimating the quality of players who will be interested in joining the team ( likely the way to over the hill retreads ) . With good health and some breaks the Suns can have a deep playoff run but lots of things can go wrong .
Durant 35, he's in the twilight of his career. Beal establishes two pieces to stabilize the suns moving forward. Move Ayton for some pieces, they got something to make a run. You can find guys around the league, just gotta look
Playoff rotations are only 8 players. The Suns have 4 really good players. If they keep DA they still have Payne's contract, they also have Saric's 4.9 million trade exception as well. Plus they also got Jordan Goodwin who may be Payne's replacement
So typos of the wizards were goi g to do something g like this they should of just got rid of the people before the season started , tank and try to get the #1 for victor so dumb
Again making the same mistake while building a team. Everyone gets his turn. Like "here's the ball, now you do something with it", unlike with what we've seen from the nuggets, or the warriors in the past, where everyone got his turn organically through ball movement.

He costs the chance at building a real championship roster. This is a disaster waiting to happen. I have nothing positive to say about it.

No offense to Shamet, but he can be easily replaced.
It’s the right gamble for the Suns. Still think the Nuggets are the favorites but Suns have a legit shot at the title with that offensive firepower

No. It cost them flexibility and oppurtunity costs for cp3 trade for rotation players.
