[Stein] Multiple teams have shared in recent days that Dereck Lively II has true Tyson Chandler potential. Lively is being projected as a top-10 pick, with Atlanta A) known to be interested and B) known to be discussing trades with Dallas that would move the Hawks up from the 15th pick to No. 10.

So you’re telling me we can start a bidding war?

If there is both a run for one of Wallace, Bufkin and Black as PG *and* a run to leapfrog the Hawks to get Lively…we are in one hell of a prime position to capitalize.

Oh, Atlanta, better be talking about Capela, 15 *and* additional draft assets, because there are teams about to get on the phone and they are looking game.

Nico ain’t slick with these leaks to move the trade partners lol

I’m saying this, if mavs really want Capela, i would rather draft Lively than trade down

Someone tell me the flaw in my thought process, other than the BS excuse of “It doesn’t fit the window.”

If Lively2 could be Tyson Chandler, and we mostly agree that TC was one of the best centers the franchise has ever had… why not just draft him ourselves if he is there at 10?

If that’s true idk why we don’t just draft him and get the best of both worlds. Young, inexpensive center that can rim protect, grab rebounds, and has scoring upside.

could someone who’s high on Lively share why they’re confident he’s more Tyson Chandler than Willie Cauley-Stein

Why would Atlanta want to draft a big when they have Okongwu and Capela?

I know everyone is asking “why not just draft Lively”, if you can fill two spots instead of one, it’s really hard to pass that up. On top of that dumping Bertans’ contract is awesome, and could potentially put you in position for the full MLE. You could address center and wing potentially in one move. That’s a big fix.

Obviously, the risk is, will Capela be good enough going forward? I’d think so, at least for two years. And we still get a lottery rookie as a foundation piece going forward.

Offseason additions: Capela, Cason Wallace/wing, and full MLE wing? Whew, what a hell of an offseason.

If Walker or Hendricks aren’t available at #10, I think we should either spring for him or try to trade the pick for an established center.

Also, while he’s not necessarily a fantastic fit with our needs now, I wouldn’t be upset at Cason Wallace.

I’m glad it’s Stein reporting it. That makes it real. Hopefully they figure it out. I want that 15th pick and Capela bad

I would really like to see us select Lively. He fits what this team needs – rim protection and rebounding. On offense he is already a lob threat and has shown promise with the jump shot. Even if he doesn’t develop as quickly on offense he is one of the most impactful defenders ever in college. If he does develop he has the potential to be a top 5 center in the league. Would also be great to inject some more youth into this team.

Outside of that, if you haven’t seen any interviews with him check them out. He is well-spoken, charismatic, and confident. He seems to understand exactly what his role will be and how he can help a team.

Every center ever is Tyson chandler and every European who can shoot is Dirk. I love the draft but the comparisons are ass

We’re going to trade for Capella and he’s going to basically be like DeAndre Jordan was when we finally got him. Two years later we’ll be letting him walk because he’s averaging six points and five boards while Lively is making all defensive teams. You know that’s how it’s going to go down. Plus whoever we drafted at 15 will probably be on his second team already at that point

That should mean that they would be willing to part with either Capela or Okongwu if they’re trading up to draft a big. Would prefer either of those over Collins.
