Could Kristaps Porzingis Be A Game Changer For The New York Knicks? With Locked On Wizards

Kristaps Porzingis isn’t the same player he was when he was on the New York Knicks. In fact he might just be peaking with a refined post game and improved passing.

The appeal to the New York Knicks is obvious. A floor spacer on one end and a rim protector on the other, that can also provide some post scoring in a jiffy. But is are his injury problems truly in the past? Will he be okay making an Aaron Gordon like transition to more of a role player on a suddenly stacked Knicks starting lineup or would he be frustrated by a diminished role and leave within a year? Are the Knicks equipped to best maximize his talents?

Gavin Schall is joined by the Locked On Wizards dream team of Brandon Scott and Ed Oliver to discuss that plus the Bradley Beal trade and the Knicks hopes of keeping the first round pick owed to them by the Wizards.

  1. The Knicks need a two-way, 6'8" wing capable of guarding 3s and 4s, making threes, and putting the ball on the floor when called upon. O.G. Anunoby will do nicely, thank you. Or Paul George if he weren't always injured. All these guards and power forwards I keep hearing about only waste everyone's time and I hope Knicks' management isn't seriously contemplating any of the many ill-fits that are out there, including Porzingis, Kat, or Bradley Beal, now mercifully off the market. We need a TRUE small forward. Period.

  2. LOOK KP COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT OF NEW YORK THE LAST TIME HE WAS HERE. PLUS HE IS FAR FAR TO INJURY PRONE FOR ME AND DALLAS COULDN'T WAIT TO GET HIM OUT OF THERE IF HE WAS THAT GOOD DALLAS WOULD HAVE KEPT HIM THERE BUT LIKE I SAY DALLAS COULDN'T WAIT TO GET HIM AWAY FROM THEM IT IS ALWAYS A RED FLAG WHEN A TEAM THAT TRADED FOR YOU DON'T WANT YOU THERE. AND I DON'T WANT TO WASTE VALUABLE DRAFT CAPITAL AND PLAYERS THE KNICKS HAVE DRAFTED. FOR A PLAYER THE KNICKS HAVE ALREADY HAD

  3. Good package for KP would be Frenchie, Rose, Quick and 1st rd pick. They need a PG, two expiring contracts and a pick makes sense financially and good business for both. No shot getting Grimes, he's not going anywhere. For the Knicks, opt in for one year at 36M is ideal as a prove it deal. That dude Brandon knows his stuff, good content.

  4. Being a Knicks fan from New Jersey and now living In the DMV for the past 10 years I love this pod crossover thank you guys !

  5. KNICKS SHOULD SIGN IQ AND OBI BEFORE THE NEW CBA COME INTO EFFECT. BE CHEAPER NO MATTER HOW IT WILL LOOK NOW, IT WILL BE CHEAPER WHEN THE DAY COMES. KNICKS WILL BE UNDER THE SALARY CAP.

  6. KP trade looks good ONLY on paper. On paper, we get a 7'3 PF/C who is a good 3pt shooter AND a good shot blocker. There are very few players like that in the NBA – Embiid, Lopez, Jarren Jackson Jr, maybe Miles Turner (though he lost his 3pt touch over the last few years). So, yes, it's super valuable to have a player like that on paper. But in reality, KP has been THAT player for literally 1 year out the last 6. During the other 6 years he has been injured, on and off the court, playing poor defense because of his injuries, etc. What are the chances that going forward, as KP ages, he will just be that guy he was on the WIzards this year and not the guy he has been for his entire career?
