  1. The Pistons absolutely have to do their homework on this draft, they have to embrace the 5th pick turn over every rock and find a solid player, also with the 31st pick and with the salary cap they have the must get a quality vet willing to work with the young guys.

  2. A little more clarity for people who care about the new CBA

Teams who extended salary over the 2nd level of the luxury tax cannot:

    1) Sign Mid Level Exception Deals for incoming players
    2) Trade future draft picks that extended two years to date
    3) Trade for players for cash consideration (cash consideration deals are locked out)
    4) Make 1 for 1 trades where you are taking more than 2.5% – 5% of any player's given salary against the cap
    5) Are ineligible to sign in season two-way contracts or upgrade two-way contracts of already signed players (blocked from G-League Signees)

Those are the 5 things that hit teams the hardest if they pass the second level of the luxury tax. Loved that you guys brought it up because I don't think people truly understand how much this is going to effect the league going forward. The Pistons could be drastically affected by it when they have to start making contract offers to all these first round guys we've acquired over the years of this restoration/rebuild process. But, Troy has shown a great mind for balancing the books. But, tough decisions will have to be made, regardless.
