    >The Nuggets are trading the least favorable of its 2024 first-round picks in deal to move into the first-round and early second in Thursday’s NBA Draft, per sources.

    >As the Nuggets prepare for possibility of losing Bruce Brown in free agency, they’ll be drafting at No. 29, 32 and 37 on Thursday with a chance to keep gathering up young role players for this championship window. GM Calvin Booth picked Christian Braun at No. 21 last year.

We are right where we want to be!

It seems like Calvin Booth is pretty good at this whole executive thing

What is going on in Denver ☝️🤨☝️

Calvin Booth is a draft menace, dude just wants to draft all day long. Refused to trade the Jmyke pick for upgrades last season and decided to pick Watson

love booth isn’t just a small private room to fuck in

  8. Coke_ButNotTheDrug

Put Booths statue next to Jokic’s

Would you rather us keep 2 late first rounders or trade up into top 15 if possible?

I’ve been trying to keep up on back-of-the-envelope salary calculations with all the news about the updated tax amount and trades, and how this impacts potential free agency — specifically, if Bruce stays, can we also still squeeze in the 5m TPMLE without hitting the second tax apron?

As it stands, the 5 starters + 7.8 for Bruce + CB, PWat, Vlatko, Zeke would combine to make 171.2m for 10 roster spots (note: this looks like it’s 1.7m too high if you’re using basketball reference. This is because the cap went up by 2m, and Jokic + Jamal + MPJ are on max contracts that are based on a percentage of the cap. 35+25+25 = 85% of the increase will go to them.) The second apron is at 182.5m. The #29 pick on a rookie scale makes almost exactly 2m. So what would be left would be 9.3m for 4 slots.

If we want to retain the full 5m TPMLE, that would leave 4.3m for the last 3 salary slots. A veteran minimum deal counts as 1.7m against the cap (the league actually pays the excess for long-term veterans), so 3 of those would be 5.1m. But a rookie minimum deal is only 1.1m, so if we fill out 2 of the last 3 slots with rookie min players, we can preserve the full TPMLE. If we fill 1 of the last 3 slots with rookie min players, we can get to 4.9m out of the 5m.

Collin Gillespie, Jack White, Ismael Kamagate, and whoever we pick at 32 or 37 are all candidates for the rookie minimum. So there are options.

Gonna be crazy to see 28 teams pass on Wemby

I feel like Booth is way more aggressive than Connelly with trying to improve the team. Connelly would never make these moves and would probably be happy to sit pat in the 2nd round.

This is great. Denver is getting 2nd title. Just add cheap contracts, vets will come also.

This seems like a bad deal from Indiana’s practice, no? The nuggets should be really good next year, so there’s a decent chance the pick that goes to Indiana next year is 29 or 30. I guess Indiana must like the end of the first round next year better than this year.

It’s also interesting that there were rumors yesterday the Nuggets were trying to move into the first round. I wonder if there’s one player they are banking on being available there, or if it’s more they generally like the players who will be available there.

    Booth’s been cooking

Calvin really taking advantage of all those pick hoarders who now finally realize you can’t add 243 rookies to your roster every year. First OKC, now Indiana. This draft is supposed to be stacked with solid role players until like pick 40 and with our draft history this is pretty hype. Anyone know if TC took any of our scouts with him?

  17. _moondoggie12_

So now we have 29, 32, and 37 this draft?

  18. murrayforthree

This guy Calvin rubbin his hands. Gonna pick the next Jokic from Taiwan i bet.

  19. Burn_the_duster_

Banggggg and the nuggets are into this years first round, AND top of the second. Add some cheap contacts for depth and upside. Going for back to back
