People really act like we swapped Trae for Luka straight up. If Cam Reddish ended up being halfway decent this trade would be looked at a lot differently

I love Trae, but I’m not gonna pretend that Luka isn’t the better player. Roster construction probably would have been a bit different so it’s hard to say if we could have been more successful or not. In any case, I’m happy that Trae is our cornerstone player.

Luka wasn’t going to play in ATL so we got what we could out of it. At worst Trae is the third best player (after SGA) in an excellent draft. The worst part was drafting Cam the next year with Dallas pick. Luka is the better player due to his size but Trae is more likable.

My biggest gripe since draft night is that we honestly did not ask enough from Dallas to move up. Push comes to shove, I honestly think we could’ve gotten another first or at least easily the early second Dallas got Brunson for them to move up from a questionable 5 to the surest 3rd overall pick.

I think Mavs won and we squandered the 2019 draft pick letting Cam go, that draft was forward heavy and we didn’t capitalize. Hunter rode his championship to a lottery pick and a 100m deal.
