Jake Fischer notes on the Raptors

> Atlanta has also maintained a pursuit of Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, according to league sources. The Hawks’ have attempted several creative packages to land the All-NBA talent from Toronto, including at least one three-team scenario. Opposing front offices still believe the Raptors’ high valuation of their players, such as Siakam and OG Anunoby, marks the biggest roadblock to any potential trade of either Raptor. Toronto also stands as one of several teams in the middle of the first round that could trade up or down in Thursday night’s draft order. Every year, teams consider maneuvering in both directions of the draft board, but this June seems to have an inordinate number of front offices preparing to move in either direction, depending on how the picks unfold. Toronto, for example, has held discussions with Orlando to jump from No. 13 to No. 11, sources said, while the Raptors have also called teams like Golden State at No. 19 and Brooklyn with picks Nos. 21 and 22 about sliding down the board.

> The Lakers have also had preliminary conversations with several teams about trading No. 17 plus the salary of Malik Beasley and/or Mo Bamba in exchange for veteran talent and perhaps a later draft selection. A few names to keep an eye on: Toronto guard Gary Trent Jr., Pacers guard Buddy Hield and Brooklyn swingman Dorian Finney-Smith, sources said.

If I had to guess, moving down to 19 was probably a trade like 13+Otto for 19+Kuminga or something. Seems unlikely. Nets have a bunch of future picks so 21, 22, and something from all those other picks for 13 could have been the discussion?

Not sure what we’d be giving up to move from 13 to 11. Boucher maybe?

Masai is really going to axe another trade opportunity to watch Siakam beyblade for 3 quarters then brick 15 footers in the 4th for another year…. come on mannnn

I’m so curious what the ask for og and pascal is.

If we move down in this draft it better be for someone a shitload better than Thaddeus Young

If we traded GT for Beasley and 17, and then re-signed Fred & Jakob, I think that people’s heads would explode.

Depending on who falls to 17, I like the idea of moving Trent for it. A guy like Sensabaugh or Podziemski is easily worth moving on from Trent.

Sensabaugh could have career derailing knees but he’s literally just a better, more dynamic, younger version of Trent. 52% from midrange, 40% from 3, best scorer in the draft… if not for his knees, he’s easily a lottery pick. Pod might just become the next Payton Pritchard but there is a world where he becomes something closer to Trae Young. Both guys are elite shooters, Pod arguably the best shooter in the draft. For an expiring Trent.. yes please.

Every year Masai and the Raptors try to trade but never do it on draft day.

I knew that coming in but some reason I believed that it would be different this time.

I feel like bufkin is their guy they wanna move up for

If Leonard Miller is on the board at 17 Gary might be gone

I think Atlanta would be a great trade partner for Siakam, but I doubt they would be willing to give up a lot for him, Dont think anything will happen because raptors always value their core guys higher than anyone else.

All this speculation hurts my brain. I like most of the ideas/reports of the Raptors moving up or down for the right piece, but I doubt anything significant happens lol. It was the same narrative before the trade deadline, and the Raptors stayed the course and dealt a 1st for Poeltl.

Masai slowly morphing into Ainge at the end of his Celtics tenure, with the nonstop reports of trades he almost made.

Am i the only one that really wants DJM?

I’m only trading with the Hawks if they include Griffin, he reminds me so much of Jimmy. I think he would be the perfect piece next to Barnes.

Trying to leapfrog OKC for Bilal?
