Generally I agree with your take of hedging your bet on the type of guy we’ve seen do it before. But if you’re the hornets you might just be taking RJ Barrett over ja morant. Brandon miller just has no downhill strength. He has so much trouble turning the corner. There’s just no burst there, despite being a good athlete. And you can’t teach that. Maybe some of it is his comfort level with his handle and at this time using his body to protect the ball, but frankly I feel he has a much much better chance of becoming Trey Murphy III than Paul George. And just by virtue of his shot form, he won’t be able to shoot over the top and likely won’t develop much of a back to the basket game because of it (and overall strength level at the moment). He shoots quick, it’s not ideal to be shooting pound dribble pull ups when the only way you can get downhill is with a guy on your back hip in DHO or off a screen. Whoever you chose, you’re not going to turn it around right now. You’ll almost certainly be back in the top 5 next year.

Seems like a really weird fit for the Grizz. I like it for the Celtics though. Smart wasn't improving the Celtics and topped out in 2022 talent and efficiency wise.

I feel like Smart is there to guide the team through the first 25 games. Then bring him off the bench like he was used at different times over the years in Boston. Finding a decent wing to replace brooks shouldnt really be too hard given how available those guys seem to be, in fa or via a trade with a team who has too many. Guy was a liability, not an asset. Smart > brooks any day of the week. Good swap for memphis.

Never heard of Kristaps Porzingis. But I like the player profile and the stats look good. 23 PPG 8 APG 3 APG 49% FG 85% FT 36% 3PT. Good to know he can provide good rim protection and has good post game. Cs are known as a big team but they never truly had a stand out big. Porzingis is now that stand out big. Surprised to see Smart go but its a trade I can swallow well. My problem will be if the Cs remain with AL. Idc what anyone says that guy is a bum and needs to dip.

I think the trade shows that Memphis is confident in there young guys to fell the 3 spot and Marcus will eventually come off the bench after ja suspension, eventually becoming one of the best 6 man in the league. plus him and Brandon Clarke on the pick and roll action off the bench would be nice!!!
