Mavs Rumors Are HOT Prior To 2023 NBA Draft: Khris Middleton, Grant Williams & Cam Whitmore

The 2023 NBA Draft is finally here! On today’s show we take a look at the latest news & rumors ahead of the Draft for the Mavericks. According to Tim Cato of The Athletic, The Mavs have talked with the Boston Celtics about a sign & trade for Grant Williams. The Celtics, who traded for Kristaps Porzingis, may be willing to let Williams go on the cheap prior to 2023 NBA Free Agency. Mavs free agent target Khris Middleton also declined his player option for the 2023-24 NBA season, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports says that if Cam Whitmore is available with the Mavericks selection at No.10, Mavs GM Nico Harrison could select Whitmore and keep him without executing a trade.

Tim Cato of The Athletic on Grant Williams:
“One league source, granted anonymity since he wasn’t authorized to speak publicly, told me Dallas has spoken with the Boston Celtics about a Grant Williams sign-and-trade. Dallas isn’t interested in using its pick to acquire him, and the team might decide against an offer — something more than the mid-level exception — that would be large enough that Boston wouldn’t match. But Williams makes plenty of sense in Dallas, and there may be other ways to complete that deal with Boston’s help if Dallas decides to seriously pursue it.”
