Couldn’t the Wizards have extended KP’s player option so the clippers could have done the medical exam and stuff.
Per sources, the Clippers’ reversal on Brogdon was centered on not having time to complete a physical exam.

I wondered the same thing. But I guess it’s on KP to extend or not and maybe there’s a chance a deal wouldn’t get done and he’d be stuck on the Wizards again? Idk

Seems like Boston were hiding something otherwise the sides would have just agreed to extend the deadline.
Wizards probably thought “time is of the essence” facilitates a deal with the Celts. It apparently was, as Boston parted ways with Smart to make the deal happen.
