3 Ways the Spurs re-signing Jakob Poeltl would benefit Wembanyama

It’s like Cal Durrett is in my head.

Can you imagine the level of salt from Raptors fans if we actually signed him?

Who do you think has a higher ceiling, Zach or Jakob?

Collins feels like a better fit beside Wemby since he can also stretch the floor to give Wemby room to operate on the left block (a good proportion of his shots come from there and at the rim).

On the other hand, Poodle is one of my favorite Spurs and would really love for him to be back. That defensive potential with Wemby is mouth-watering.

Wemby’s shot chart, for anyone curious:

Wasn’t Jakob wanting a contending team? Not that he’d get it with raps but it won’t be much better with the youth movement here.

I used to like the idea of Jak playing with Wemby, but after the trade? I feel like Zollins is the better fit. While he may not be the defender that Jak is, I feel like the latter is somewhat overrated on that end. He gets a ton of blocks, protects the paint but put him up against superstar bigs and he gets eaten alive.

Zollins otoh despite being not on his level as a defender is a willing one at the very least. He can score both inside and outside which makes him a better fit for Wemby. But most importantly, he got that dawg in him. That fire is something I’ve never seen from Jak.
