Grant Williams. Please and thank you

  2. Grant Williams and Jalen McDaniles look like the most obvious choices. Barnes would be interesting, haven’t watched the Kings so don’t know if his defense is still good.

There are some rumours about the Bulls wanting FVV, I wonder if we could sneak in as a 3rd team and grab Patrick Williams, I think he would fit great here as a starter.

You know I think Harrison Barnes would be really good. I’d prefer him over McDaniels, but not Grant because of age. Barnes has been shooting 38-40% from 3 since leaving Dallas and even showed some improved playmaking. He’s at a different level offensively than the other two and would really help in the context of having someone else who can at least somewhat get their own shot.

I’m fine with Barnes. He has learned his role better since departing. He was basically thrust into a lead dog position here and never got away from it as the team evolved. You can get away with the black hole thing when you’re the guy, but not when your just a guy. Either one of these would be fine for the MLE imo though.

Harrison Barnes? Grant Williams? Sorry, neither one of those guys can be had for the MLE. They’ll be worth way more than that.

The only way the Mavs could’ve offered them a competitive contract was through a sign-n-trade via the TPE. The Celtics have no interest in keeping Williams after they acquired Porzingis. So it would’ve been easy to do a sign-n-trade with the TPE and a couple of 2nd round picks.

The biggest contract the Mavs could’ve offered through a sign-n-trade TPE was $74M/4. That’s good enough for guys like Barnes, Grant, Kuzma, PJ Washington, and some of the other power forwards. But without the TPE, they’re limited to only the MLE which is $53M/4.

If we can use the MLE for Grant that would be great. Who else is targeting him? Can he get offers more than our MLE?

bruce brown or grant williams should be option number 1

Grant would be ideal but feel like he’ll command 15+. Harrison barnes would be an awesome sign for MLE

Without KP on the roster, there’s zero reason for the Mavs not to bring Harrison back. Kind of think he’d be a perfect 3/4 and really anchor a locker room that’s likely going to lose a lot of its established veteran leadership this offseason.

Grant Williams will very likely get more than the MLE, unless he specifically takes a paycut to sign here. Barnes is older and worse as a defender, I could see no team wanting to give up more than the MLE here, but I’m also unsure if we should hard cap ourselves for him. He’s no part of our future and does not bring what we will need in the playoffs, that is defense (opportunistic shooting he would).

If I had to choose, unless Grant takes a paycut, I would go for McDaniels. Good defender, versatility between the 3 and the 4, crash the board, C&S, he is a prototype of a modern wing that every contender needs. The wing rotation between him, Green, Bullock, OMax and Maxi would very much guarantee two high-end defenders no matter what to surround Luka and Kyrie, all with shooting upside.

Barnes would be great. Perfect 3/4 fit, can knock down open 3’s, and get his own bucket when needed. Also great character guy.

  13. Zestyclose_Wafer_416

Barnes would be cool. Probably need a vet presence with all the youngsters.

Big question is if Barnes will accept a lesser role and and a lot less ball handling. Here he’d be just a shooter

  14. geargarcon

Misleading title. This isn’t Mavs’ targets. This is Stein speculation

  15. Youngrepboi

Hahah did half the sub forgot that we traded him during a game. No way he would think about coming back.

  16. shaheedmalik

I’d rather have Barnes than Grant.

  17. typicaltaras

I can’t believe I’m saying this in 2023, but I wouldn’t be upset if we brought Barnes back.

  18. bloodydingbat

People saying Barnes is a good target are massive LOL’s.

    He is so so bad.

Against the warriors he was terrible, a massive liability.

  19. DirkRichardson

Barnes would be a great get, would be great for the maturity of the team to
