Kareem Abdul-Jabbar came into the NBA immediately as one of the most individually dominant players in league history. The 1971 Bucks are considered by some fans to be the greatest team in NBA history, but what stopped the Bucks from winning more championships? How good were they really?

They were fucking awesome! That's how good they were according to the metric system.
Hey Uncle Hays: how do you mainly do your research for these videos? You have such an even keeled and more impartial way of stating things, and trying not to gloss over everything that doesn't get acknowledged.
Of course you had enough stuff to read about these guys you could probably have made an hour long video, but what you pare it down to normally still feels reasonably "exhaustive" too?
6:56 you mentioned the bucks won 4 games to zero but you showed on the screen bucks won 4-2
DISCLAIMER: Mistake at 6:56. The graphic says the bucks won the 1971 finals 4-2. That’s wrong, the voiceover is right. They won 4-0.
Old guy here-Bobby Dandridge was such a great #2 guy, right up there with Pippen but The Greyhound actually won a title with another team. (the Washington Bullets-he had to guard The Doctor in the finals)
All I remember they were smooth pure finess more attention was on Kareem 4got about everyone else
I LOVE YOUR CHANNEL !!! Please keep'em coming…You should do one on the 70's Chicago Bulls with Jerry Sloan and Bob Love.
Bobby Dandridge was a Bad Man.very underrated
1:42 you know a guy is a shooter if his name is glockin!
now this team was pretty damn good. not the best ever, but fun to argue. and, yes, bobby dandridge is easily the most underrated forward ever.
By '71 I had been a Lakers fan for four years. I distinctly remember the Bucks winning the championship with Kareem (Lew Alcindor) my family having moved to LA in '66. Now ff to Milwaukee 2021, my wife and I already have been in Milwaukee for several years now and paying close attention to the Bucks, Giannis in particular. I'm in Milwaukee for a contract but her and I are from AZ. Yeah……….land of the Phoenix Suns. Now it's the finals…..Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns…..wow! Long story short, the only reason her and I didn't attend the 65000 people in the Deer District for games 3,4,or 6 is because I have AZ plates! The championship by the Bucks 2yrs ago was the most incredible championship I have ever seen. Earned…..not bought. Not to take anything away from any other teams but that championship was absolutely the most thrilling, and to be in Milwaukee at the time was very special. Go Bucks!
Always love your content man
Bobby Dandridge was a great player. Someone said he had to guard Dr.J in the finals. When Bobby Dandridge won the title with the Washington Bullets in 1978 he guarded Dr.J in the Eastern Conference Finals. They played the Seattle Supersonics in the finals for two years. Won in 78 & lost in 79.
The missing piece for the Bucks during their early '70s glory years, and their Achilles Heal, was a true power forward to take the burden off Kareem. They tried to replace a great leaper, but undersized Greg Smith with Curtis Perry, and Perry simply was never the guy.
I heard they once took a foo' to schoo'.
I would love to see the '71 Bucks vs the 2000 Lakers. Good video by the way.
The '71 Bucks were insanely good! One of the greatest of all time… beat Earl Monroe's Bullets in the Finals.. which I hated and still hate to this day. Love the Pearl lol but at least he got to win one in '73 with the Knicks. The '71 Bullets were not a weak team whatsoever..they rightfully got to the Finals because they were really that good. They beat the champion Knicks in 7 games! Earl Monroe at his peak, Jack Marin, Gus Johnson, Fred Carter who you forgot to mention, Wes Unseld, and Kevin Loughery, among others. Both teams were stacked but it was Kareem's height and dominance that made the difference.
Outstanding video! Brings back lots of memories!
The Milwaukee Bucks of the early 70s was my favorite team back then. I was born in 1963 & lived in Washington state but my hometown team, the Seattle SuperSonics, were my second favorite team. My all-time favorite NBA matchup between two NBA teams were Kareem's Milwaukee Bucks versus Wilt's Los Angeles Lakers. The 1970-71 Bucks had a 20 game winning streak, and the 1971-72 Lakers had a 33 game winning streak. Still the longest in pro sports history. The Milwaukee Bucks were the team that ended that Laker's 33-game winning streak.
Greyhound was a classic swingman
Hakeem Olawjon was the best
Akeem Olawjon was better! akeem had less talent around him while Kareem had alot of allstars with him! Akeem dominated Lew Alcindor ! I know I watched them both through out their college and Pro career! alcindor was my favorite player until Hakeem came into Basketball!
My guess: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wanted out of Milwaukee after “The Big O”(Oscar Robertson) retired in 1974.
please tell me who you all feel was the better between george karl and don nelson since they were both head coaches for a team i did do and/or PROBABLY will SOMEWHAT like being the bucks because i did do and/or PROBABLY will really LOVE the legendary kareem abdul-jabbar
One thing is sure, KAJ is the greatest co-pilot ever
Flynn Robinson played for the Los Angeles Lakers in their Championship Year of 1972.
If I'm an NBA GM and i missed out on Kareem due to losing a coin flip bruh I'm losing sleep for the rest of my life…
In the 72 Finals the defending Champion Bucks won Game 1 in La by around 30 pts. It was obvious from then on the refs were told to do whatever they had to so Jerry West could win his 1 Championship. Worst refereed Finals EVER.
not as good as the 74 Celtics
He was better with the Bucks….😳🤯
This team is OP af in 2k and rightfully so
Their lone championship has a little less shine when you realize LA didn’t have west or Baylor.
