Irving on a max (barring trades of waving and stretching players of course) wouldn’t be enough to open the entire NT-MLE. Even if you rostered only 14 players, you’d only have use of $7,615,032 of the NT-MLE.

I don’t know why it is that important to open up the BAE since the team has a trade exception with the same value. I think at this point it is more about quality than quantity for the team because they do have some good young talent.
Assuming the worst case scenario of Kyrie taking the full max and the team going for 14 roster spots the team will have over $9m of the full MLE to use. That means if Kyrie were to take a discount of $3m per year that would open up the full MLE. The downside of that is the roster then becomes only 14 players, which given the extra 2-way spot might not be that big of a deal, since those last few roster spots are gonna be vet mins anyway.
That being said, it seems the Mavs FO are really focused on doing things during free agency. So I think looking at things only based on Kyrie’s contract and the MLE might be shortsighted because a lot of variables might change by the time free agency hits.

I think if we waive and stretch Bullock, we could use both BAE and Full MLE. Scenario I’m thinking is Bruce Brown/Donte Divincenzo for MLE and Keita Bates Diop for BAE. Brown/Donte takes. Bullocks role so we are fine to waive him.

A really nice look at the cap situation but I’d imagine there’s still lots of deals to be made before the mavs get to the point of using their mle. I’d expect some salary to be going out
