[Draft Deeper] If you include UDFA in a draft night haul, the Los Angeles Lakers may be my favorite in the field? Getting Jalen Hood-Schifino who has one of if not the highest upside after the lotto picks, plus Max Lewis at 40 AND Castleton and Hodge as 2-ways?? Talk about a night!!

Yo all you doubters and non believers hop on lol we killed it last night. Hodge has a legit shot at making the roster because he’s old af and his skills match our needs.

  2. I know none of them. are we expecting them to be on the bench or..?

It’s pretty funny knowing the track record of our scouting department and then having guys who do draft analysis as their job compliment how well the team drafts, yet immediately we as fans will just hate on players that get picked without knowing how their workout went or before they’ve even stepped foot on an NBA floor.

ESPN gave them a C grade. Schifino was ranked outside 30 by Kevin pelton fwiw

I have full trust in our scouting department

I can find a Twitter post or grading saying we killed it and did amazing or one that says we actually got killed and did horrible. The truth is nobody knows anything until they actually show us what they got when they play. Everything until then is just noise to me.

Chances of lakers hitting on all 4 are prob slim. Its like when we got excited about ayayi and mclung. If at-least one of them can be a rotational player , that would be great.

Rob said they had a lotto grade on JHS, that means the Lakers scouting department thinks he’s going to be really good..that inspires a lot of confidence.

Max was a consensus steal. prototype wing build, a lot of potential.

Castleton was liked by most pundits as well. Vaceeni had him 45th..I had him in the 30s. An agile giant with passing skill

Go watch Castleton highlights on a small screen, dude looking like Pau on the court. Mannerisms and all.

Hoping that he’s half as good tho.

Ultimately I thought we had a great draft. I wasn’t as high on JHS coming into the draft but the scouting department >>>>>> my fucking opinion. They basically haven’t missed since 2016/17, and I don’t count Mo Wagner (solid role player) cuz that was a Magic pick.

Drafting JHS means they think there’s some serious ability there as a PnR guy from day 1. He needs to improve the outside shot because teams are gonna go under, but his shooting form is good overall and he’s solid from the middie and FT line. He needs to get downhill way more (especially given his size and physical tools) and tighten up his handle, but that’s what Phil Handy is there for.

Defensively he can be solid from day 1 (at least by rookie standards). Big frame with a massive wingspan and good feet and strength. I thought he was more of a “project”, but I the scouting department clearly thinks he can be ready from day 1 and I’m not disagreeing with them. We got killed at the POA because our best guard defender was Dennis but he was super small. JHS gives us a big poa defender. Add in Max Christie and all of a sudden we have something.

Max Lewis is a great value pick at 40. Needs to get stronger but has great physical tools and shooting ability. High upside player who can be ready in year 2 to play a bigger role. Strength is his biggest limitation right now.

  11. Hope JHS can be at least as good as Spencer’s Dinwiddie

I’m letting my JHS doubts go out the window and trust the FO. Hoping he makes an impact. I’m more excited about Lewis though

My negative reaction is not so much who the Lakers drafted, it seems the other teams out west did so much more to improve on 2023 roster. Do you really think these draft pieces will get us above Denver? Or Phoenix?

Cope. Y’all only see what you want to see.

I don’t watch enough College Basketball to know if we were good or not but I’m sure we will hit on someone last night.

Hoosier/Lakers fan here. You will love him. He’s a professional. Perfect locker room guy. A winner.

Take a look at his at Purdue highlights as a true freshman and you will see what he is capable of. Dropped 35 on the eventual one seed in their building. That isn’t a “lucky day.” He absolutely shit on them.

    Very excited about him.

  17. I just think it’s funny our fans are calling him Fino already. Not Jalen, not Hood, but the dorkiest part of his name
