Embracing sports betting the way we have in the last few years has been the fucking worst. It’s made everything else around the actual games worse.

Shams also the dickhead who ran with the GP2 getting “shot up” before games in Portland and never offered a correction. Dude’s a sleazy POS.

  3. Whether or not Shams did something wrong, gambling getting to intertwined in sports is a real shame.

Sports betting will be the downfall of it all.

Got a buddy who works for DK and he agrees it’s going to get really bad and create a whole new generation of gamblers.

The microbets you can make about who makes the next bucket, the next steal/block/timout are super toxic and people are going to lose money they never should have bet.

Now we got sports reports working for said companies and altering draft odds like crazy.

He helped me win $30, so I can’t be too mad at him, right?

  6. Gambling has been part of sports since the dawn of time. You can go back to the Roman gladiator games or back to the Greek Olympics and see people placed wagers on who would win.

But when reporters have these sorts if conflicts of interest it looks like straight up corruption. Shams might be looking at some sort of racketeering charge if he’s paid to announce false info

just so you know shams: you’ve been dead/a scam artist to blazers fans since the GP2 embarrassment and I’m not surprised at all. scumbag journalism

I called this in the leadup. This shit is going to get investigated soon. I don’t know whether Shams did anything wrong, but in other sports leagues are the world where betting is legal, anyone with even a tangential connection to the sport (like family, or friends) can get someone in big trouble for placing bets.

It doesn’t help that Woj and Shams had completely conflicting info, it felt like lines were being manipulated intentionally.

I don’t gamble but this thread sounds like… Not like the people that usually frequent reddit and more the… “Won’t somebody please think of the children!” Group… You know.. A lot of people think a lot of new age stuff is sleazy and used to be considered trash… I guess all sides just cherry pick and don’t really have a stance, just emotions
