The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly under a mandate from ownership to get under the luxury tax and have been active in trade talks. The Hawks are not expected to entertain a trade of Trae Young, but Dejounte Murray could be available. “One guy I haven’t heard in trade rumors is Trae Young,” said Brian Windhorst. on the Hoop Collective livestream during the draft. “What about Dejounte Murray?” asked Kevin Pelton. “One guy I haven’t heard in trade rumors is Trae Young,” replied Windhorst after clearing his throat. @cyro asseo dejounte murray is a risk to trade for as he makes so little at 18 million that even at 140 percent of new cba, he can make more after next season when he opts out. dejounte murray is looking for 40 million plus a year for 4 years in a new contract. very difficult for a team to trade a significant piece for dejounte murray knowing he is gonna opt out and they can potentially lose him for nothing. i believe its why raptors didnt trade siakam for murray as siakam will resign in toronto. players not drafted by toronto tend not to want to stay in toronto is the reason why the raptors didnt trade for murray i believe.
I doubt they will trade Dejounte now since they couldn't get Siakam.
I think DJ will be traded. I want him in ATL, but DJ will not resign. He will make more money when he opts out. ATL can potentially lose DJ for nothing…
