I think after a "lost year" (aside from the Cade injury – 30 f'n starting lineups), it's okay to let a stable roster play some NBA games together for a minute or two. THEN assess who you want on the shopping list/trade block by the trade deadline. Regarding this year's draft: even Brandon Miller is getting positioned as far down as #6 in mocks. Best you can hope for is a flawed but strong gap-fit/on-court chemistry guy that serves as a tipping point to get the current pieces to gel.

Bro… No way Walker is being picked at 5!!! The Pistons will be making moves because they have tons of cap space .. Somebody will be offered to the pistons that can help them.. Its up to Weaver to pick and choose the correct players to pick up

What Mike isn't mentioning is that the Heat wanna use that trade to retool most of the roster… not only would Bam be gone but so would Herro ….im sorry but the 3rd pick, Simons and Sharpe would be a good offer for those two players
Trading the pick for a player is a move teams should make when they are borderline playoff contenders and need a boost to get over the hump. The Pistons are nowhere close to that, they might as well use the 5th pick on Whitmore or Walker or Hendricks. Making moves because you’re just bored is not a good long term strategy and how you end up with a Blake Griffin type situation
Mike slandered Van Gundy for not tanking, now we tank and it’s still not good enough…the picks don’t matter, these young guys can’t help us…what do you want? Talks about the war chest we don’t have in comparison to teams that started off a rebuild with a loaded chest, Utah, OKC, Magic all have been given a bunch of picks for trading away huge talents…we started with Blake and Rose to make some noise…this is a long haul sadly. I would love to see the Pistons get a top end talent by trading the 5th pick.
Valenti is the same guy that wanted the Pistons to trade for Ben Simmons and Kyrie Irving. When your building a team in Detroit, you gotta build it through the draft. Patience is key….and something Valenti is in short supply of. I’m all for going out and making the big move after we really know what we have/don’t have with this core of young players. We are still several players away from contending in my opinion. Capping out too early leads to a core that can’t really contend. (See the Andre Drummond /Reggie Jackson Pistons). In terms of building a contender, I’d much rather have the Pistons roster than the Bulls roster right now. We need to keep our powder dry and maintain flexibility. Valenti roots for radio……I root for the Pistons. We should stay the course and make these draft picks.
What more aside from better efficiency could Cade have shown to prove he could be THE guy in his rookie year. I am still of the belief he could be a top 3 guard in the NBA
Pelicans are rumored to be shopping Zion for that #2 pick. Yes he's a headcase, yes it's a huge risk. But when healthy he is easily a Top 10 player in the league and free agents don't sign here so risks have to be taken. Cade, Ivey, Duren ALL on rookie salaries. Bobie draining 3's. This lineup would have drastically changed the Pistons future if possible. PG-Cade SG-Ivey SF-Bob PF-Zion C-Duren IN THE EAST!!!!
