Hawks Have Tried To Trade For Pascal Siakam

The Atlanta Hawks have been working the phones leading up to the start of NBA free agency. One Hawks target has been Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors. Toronto hasn’t been moved by Atlanta’s offers for Siakam to this point. The Hawks and Dallas Mavericks also held trade talks ahead of the NBA Draft. Atlanta wanted to move John Collins and the 15th pick for Davis Bertans and the 10th pick. When the Mavericks asked for Clint Capela instead, the Hawks pivoted to asking for Josh Green and talks ceased. Atlanta also looked at moving up to the 5th (Detroit Pistons) or 7th (initially Indiana Pacers) pick. The Hawks offers reportedly included DeAndre Hunter and the 15th pick. Marc Stein/Substack

  1. All I can say is…I see why Travis left. I was cool with trading for siakam but if he doesn’t want to leave Toronto there’s no point. And it sounds like other teams don’t don’t rate our players as high as our front office does. I don’t even know what I want them to do anymore 😅. I just want a team that plays hard and has a legitimate chance to make the finals

  2. Siakam saying he won't re-sign with another team is a load of crap. He's just trying to prevent the possibility of him being traded.

  3. @cyro asseo i dont see a hawks siakam trade going down unless its like a serious overpay

lets say its Dejounte murray and deandre hunter for salary and one of the mid protected picks in 2024 or even they put bufkin in the deal. Dejounte murray is gonna opt out next summer to get 40 plus million a year and likely leave the raptors for nothing or a sign and trade that gives them a pick and a bad contract coming back. free agents that are not drafted do not stay in toronto. also if he does resign with raptors it creates a salary probllem as it puts the raptors into luxury tax with og anunoby and scottie barnes up for extension as well as a few bench players. raptors are not gonna want to be in luxury tax. so the hawks trade really messes up the raptors finances as DJM makes 18 million and they will need a 20 million salary match in another player on a long term contract, and DJM will be making 40 plus million next year, immediately putting the raptors into luxury tax. Hawks dont have picks either.

what would it take but the hawks likely wont offer?

Dejounte Murray, okongwu, bey, and one of griffin or bufkin and maybe a 2024 protected pick hawks have. very unlikely hawks offer this package for siakam who has 1 year left on his contract. but thats what it would take.
