The Raptors Sign Undrafted Point Guard Markquis Nowell To A Two-Way Contract!

I will be discussing the Raptors latest undrafted signing of Markquis Nowell. I will be discussing his game both offensively and defensively. Break down what he does on the offensive side which makes him a good pick up for the Raptors and how Markquis fits into the Raptors system with our new coach Darko.

  1. I like the signing. You bring up great points. I think they should have him train with D Banton to help his decision times, passing, shooting. Clearly is you could merge these two they would be amazing. That is not real but if you improve D Banton 25% as a rub off Marquis then awesome. I think when new players come into team next two years he can help them learn DR offense at Summer League or 905. If you have an injury you can bring him up and his change of pace to team will get other teams off balance. That only works for a few game stretch until scouting report gets out. Iā€™m glad he got 2 years in B12 because that would be very competitive and if he can shine there give him a chance at next level.

  2. Lolhes shorter them most of us in the comment section he better be shooting like curry and passing like magic Johnson and gettin more steals then a homeless man at a liquor store

  3. He was the best PG in the March Madness tournament. I remember watching him and thinking who the hell is this guy because Iā€™ve never heard of him before that. Heā€™s the of player the raptors currently donā€™t have in their system since Lowry left and thatā€™s a floor general. He can run the point better than anybody we currently have. The question will be how do they hide him on defense because of his size. I think if Koloko makeā€™s a jump they can likely play him with Koloko who would cover him because of his ability to protect the rim. I expect him to get lot of burn with the 905 to develop in our system.

  4. With Grady and Marquis joining, 2 guys will likely get cut. I have a feeling Barton will be one, who do you think will be the players gone to make room for the new guys?

  5. The weirdest thing is that Nowell was born on Christmas day. Can you imagine raps fans serenading him with "The First Noel" Christmas carol after he drops 25 dimes against Philadelphia?

  6. He's a defensive liability in the NBA. Reason why guys like Trey are NBA level is because their elite scoring makes up for their liability on defense. Good luck to this kid, but he's not getting run unless can actually score

  7. Great Pickup, hopefully Raptors give him a real chance. Love his speed, intelligence, passing, how he can penetrate for others… Now we have 5 Point guards – At least one has to go. Personally I hope FVV gets packaged in a sign and trade, get an expiring contract and some 2nd rounders OR a solid bench player.

  8. They are both New York pgā€™s but Marky mark hustles on defence. He does avg 2 steals a game.

  9. I've watched EVERY march madness game of his, FULL games. The guy is like kyle in that he's a leader, tough, hard nosed player. However, his shot selection and his shot in general is not ready for the NBA. His height will also become a huge factor, so unless he develops a step back, side swap jumper etc, he will struggle. So, in conclusion, he's a project but he's not the next FVV, not by a long shot.

  10. based on clips, this guy is more decisive and does not hesitate to pass or shoot whatever the defense gives him, thats what flynn was not able to do, always indecisive….so lets see.

  11. Toronto's own Isaiah Thomas ver 3.0 Nowell!!! Lets GO!! šŸ‡ØšŸ‡¦šŸ€šŸ†ā¤ļøā€šŸ”„

  12. He is better than some current nba pro players. Just a matter of turnovers and fitting in with high paid players.

  13. I'm totally ready to finally see some fun, exciting, quick moving basketball. New coaches, philosophy and players should contribute to really entertaining to watch team in the Raptors next season. Go Raps!!!!
