Yup, he gone
well. Looks like we may have an answer before free agency.
I’m preparing for the inevitable pain
Although unlikely, Let’s hope we just get a straight forward answer today. I’m tired of this stuff. He’s in or out.
Seems kinda irresponsible to plan this the same day as the G League team announcement, I mean how important does Dame think he is?
Spoiler Alert:
Dame is disappointed there were no trades.. but still loves PDX and wants to stay
I’m all in on trying to win with Dame, but at this point I just want a final decision and will accept whatever that decision may be. Either ask out now, or choose to stay for the long haul whether or not the trades to improve the team become available. Even having it out there that Dame asking out is on the table hampers any non-Dame trade offers we can get.
Today they will officially allow him to seek trade request6and negotiate with other teams
He gone
At this point Cronin should go all in. He was smart to not waste our picks, but now we still need a couple key pieces. Unlock those picks with Chicago and do it Cronin. Draymond, Derozan, OG, whoever it takes. It’s time to make them moves! Be smart, but be agressive as all hell
I wonder what teams Dame would be willing to be traded to? Hopefully for Portland fans it’s more than just Miami.
He’s probably not gonna decide whether or not to leave today. There are still possibilities out there to upgrade significantly (albeit unlikely).
Opening of free agency will see some dominoes fall, and if I remember correctly, isn’t he only available to be traded after July 8? So it’s not like there’s this sudden urgency.
If we trade to Miami, Bam has to be in return. No interest in Herro and Martin and picks. Star for a star.
If Dame stays, I actually love idea of Draymond coming here.
Here’s where I land. If he wants out, OK. Will suck but we’re in about the best position to move on as we’ve ever been. It sucks that this predicament is sucking the life out of the room because we’ve got Scoot and Shaedon for Christ’s sake. We all should be stoked on those two. Grab a few more young pieces, and we’re looking very promising.
If he wants to stay, awesome! We all, I think, can agree we want our boy to retire here. But his end of the season remarks about not wanting rookies really hampered our ability to find willing trade partners. I think a good chunk of the league thought Cronin would be desperate to please Dame and overpay for someone like OG or a one year rental on Siakam. I, for one, am glad he didn’t. Dame, I’m sure, understands that if other teams aren’t willing to negotiate in good faith, then the best course for adding talent is the one we took on draft night.
I respect anything coming from Haynes right now, because he is the only Dame source that matters – also note that there’s no ‘expectation is he will ask to Miami’ kind of bullshit we see from other pundits. Fucking amateurs.
But that said, the scrutiny on this whole thing is just getting insane – I feel like every superstar has these kind of meetings with the FO regularly (esp post draft), and it’s only because the media is so horny for Dame to leave – and summer storylines in general – that this is getting traction.
I’m pretty certain nothing will be decided today, tomorrow, or likely even by the end of summer. There are SO many variables in play, and Dame is way too smart and loyal to make a decision based off of the first domino (draft) falling.
Team Dame forever, btw. I, for one, think we’re going to see some big moves in the next month or so, and we’ll be looking back on this period laughing at the carousel of reactionary bad takes.
