First, we big breakdown the big trades made thus far including Chris Paul to the Golden State Warriors, Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics and Marcus Smart to The Memphis Grizzlies. How will CP3 on The Warriors work with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green? Why JJ likes the Grizzlies / Celtics trade from all side and explaining exactly why The Washington Wizards have done what they have this offseason. Then we dive into our potential “winners” of this year’s NBA Draft and why Houston has the most interesting offseason to come.

  1. A rare example of a multi team trade where every team seems to have ‘won’
Great analysis on the trade for Boston – I agree on every point, except for one small thing…
For three + years I have felt (eye test, defense and +/- ) Boston are better with R Williams on the floor.
So how does Porzingis fit in the rotation? Surely they’ve traded for him to start?

  2. When is Al Horford going to retire? Port is going to take his minutes. Getting rid of Smart makes Boston so much harder to defend.

  3. I don’t understand when talking about trades why does evryone forget about the money saved? Saving 50 mill a year is insane and people are worried about a 1st rounder? U can get another superstar with that cash

  4. Inflate cp3s value and trade him at the deadline for what we will end up needing

  5. I thought the Poole trade was good, but more I think about it, it looks even better. Poole is just not getting any smarter, and teams seem to easily bait him into taking poor shots over and over. It’s like they “hey, Poole made a layup. Leave him open for the heat check 3!” And the clown shoots that 27 footer.

He played well in stretches during their 2021-22 playoff run, but only short stretches of just carrying his own weight. This last year, he really contributed to winning maybe 4 or 5 games in the regular season, and he was useless in the playoffs.

That level of non-impact or negative impact is unacceptable in a guy whose making $128 million over 4 years.

  6. No way in hell warrior pay Cp 30ml over Draymond.I know it doesn't count in slary cap but still it simply doesn't worth it.

  7. It's not a basketball move it's politics and money state farm got a bad rep with Cali rn cp3 is with state farm and they can keep Draymond and add players for the future but next season a wash for warriors

  8. I don't know why, but i'm excited for this partnership wig steph and cp3. Sure, it's a contrast in style, but these two are arguably the 2 most giving point guards of all time. Albeit, curru does it by providing space to his teammates, chris does it with playmaking. 2 contrasting styles but i personally think it's very possible

  9. JJ, I agree with you! They wiffed! They grabbed an oversized guard because he looked good shooting, but has no proof of playing against talent, and a smaller PF that cannot shoot a 3. I really thought the most-ready for the warriors system player was not drafted. Azulos Tubelis.

  10. I'm always amused by JJ's sycophancy for Curry. Great shooter, great player, but….24.6ppg @ 47% / 6.5 assists / 4.7 reb.

Maybe if you let someone else handle the ball who has an excellent eye for what's happening on the floor, Steph could extend his career and maybe even improve those numbers a little. The days of Golden State running people out of the gym are over and they don't have a team that can play any other way.

  11. "The old man and the three" is now the definition of the Golden State Warriors. 😅😂

    Old man = CP3
Three = Steph, Klay and Dray. 😀

  12. I hate what they gave up for CP3 but having him run the second unit with a style thats completely different from that of the starters could be a helpful but jfc why are they so intent on not getting a defensive big despite that being the biggest hole on the team

  13. So refreshing to hear JJ speak facts rather than emotional bantering characteristic of too many sports commentators.

  14. It will be interesting to see how Dray and Paul fit on and off the court. Dray already said that him and Paul don't have a great relationship. They'll probably make it work since they're the ultimate competitors. But I wonder what will happen when they have their first big argument? They're both really stubborn, and I don't see them backing down from each other.

  15. When JJ talked about Chris snaking the PnR, I had a Nam flashback to DLo snaking the PnR every damn time Gobert would roll

  16. cp3 is going to 1 curry 2, klay 3, dray 4, looney 5. klay cant move like he used to so he will prob catch and shoot alot more. pick and roll with cp and looney , curry and dray (if he comes back)

  17. Gilbert Arenas made a great point that Paul could help the second unit get easier shots and better looks. GSW’s bench struggled with that last season.

  18. If the warriors can make some sort of trade for a big guy from the Jazz, someone like Markkanen, that would definately round them out, i think.

  19. Ngl all my other Celtics fans are cool letting Marcus go. Yes, he’s been a huge part of the team, but it seems like his presence has also prevented tatum and brown from fully taking control of the team and he also thought he was the best player on the team.

  20. It’s not about matching Curry’s production in points. It’s about controlling the tempo, keeping things under control, maintaining the lead, taking care of the ball( not turnovers),…that’s where Chris Paul will take over when Curry is resting. Chris Paul is like a quarterback inside the court. He is like a coach playing with the players inside the court. A lot of youngsters from the GSW will benefit from CP3’s playing style who are still new to any system

  21. I feel like not enough people are commenting on the JJJ marcus smart defensive duo. IMHO the best defensive duo in the league

  22. Warriors fan here, the trade for CP3 is an investment in Kuminga and Moody. With CP3 organizing the offense and reading the floor he will set up JK and Moody for all the open looks they can handle. Of course, this only works if CP3 stays healthy. Kuminga and Moody are poised to have a breakout year, and if JK does, there is no one at his price that can impact the game in the same way. JK will be the best value player in the NBA this coming year.

  23. If GS can preserve him for the playoffs, it’s a win for them. At his age it’s a fairly big IF🤔🤞

  24. It’s wild, JJ is the only person I really want to hear from regarding basketball.

  25. JJ, I'm a huge fan of your show, analysis, and opinions. However, can you please stop saying "optionality"? It's not a great word and makes you sound pretentious. Say "flexibility" or "options" instead.

  26. love hearing from the good man jj redick that kids will call a plumber 20-30 years from now
